  1. I disagree. You can take your refund and use it as a donation to the corps of your choice. DCI only allows you to donate to them.
  2. I didn't get one,at least no yet. Did they give you the option of keeping your seats for 2021 ?
  3. Has anyone seen or heard anything about tickets to the Easts ?
  4. Bethlehem's Music fest starts that weekend. Assuming its not canceled,my wife and i considering tailgating, then heading over there. We tailgate on the street,so it shouldn't be an issue (we hope).
  5. Don't know where "here" is. But they are considered "essential " in N.J. The Record had an article on this today. One of main reasons is avoid forcing people with alcohol dependency into withdrawal and possibly into the hospital. My brother is an alcoholic. Once he tried to quit "cold turkey". He had severe withdrawal symptoms ,including "the shakes",tremors and hallucinations. Ended up in the hospital. They had to give him Valium, or something like it ,help him "detox" and prevent seizures. He was there for a few days. So I can understand not wanting more people to end up in the E.R.
  6. According to a story on the news this morning,a lot of guys have started doing their own "buzz cuts'" or shaving their heads.
  7. For those who didn't march or just want another go round: First Stadium you saw a show in: ___________ Last Stadium you saw a show in : __________ Best Stadium you saw a show in : ___________ Worst stadium you saw a show in:____________ Stadium with best refreshments: _____________ Stadium with worst refreshments:____________
  8. Does anyone know if the Cadets will still be making an announcement about their "independence" ,on 3/31 ,like they were supposed to ?
  9. Does anyone know when corps order/receive their merchandise ? If they are locked in and can't cancel, maybe DCI could work with them to set up a way to easily link to each corps' "store",since some are on a separate site. May not help a lot,but if they can sell what they already bought, its something.
  10. Has anyone seen any kind of press release from INT. ?
  11. Just wondering what exactly "move forward" refers to.?
  12. Not asking for details. (Unless you'd like to provide them of course :-) ) But are you saying 1 or more people weren't in favor of canceling the season ?
  13. Hate to show technical ignorance, but where is this ?
  14. My company still has an old HP 86 desk top, that we use on occasion. Back in the 80's,HP had the best Land Surveying software. And,their HP 41 handheld computer used the same nomenclature. The Hp 86 had/has one of the only programs that could solve what is known as a non-tangent curve.
  15. Mid -April is only around 3 weeks away. Can't see much changing by then. Didn't Michigan just announce a 3 week shut down yesterday ? I agree with refunding tickets for 2020. I don't know if DCI has long term contracts with venues,so some shows could be "up in the air". I would give people the option,if the event is in the same venue, of keeping their seat locations. Kind of like what they always used to do.
  16. There's an article in today's The Record (sorry,it won't link) about the postponement of the Summer Olympics. One paragraph stood out : "This was a move everyone could see coming.Everyone but the IOC and Tokyo organizers that is. For weeks, they fought hard to maintain the charade that everything would be fine. That this summer's Games could go ahead as scheduled, despite much of the world being at a standstill."
  17. They started this last Thursday where I live in North Jersey. As I posted before,I drive past one of the stores on my way to work. First couple of days, lines were around the building before they opened. People were crazy, including bringing friends or relatives to help, with carts full of TP and PT. By this morning, only a couple of people no lines at opening.
  18. Someone posted earlier when talking about The Cadets, that DCI corps can't withdraw from the 2020 season unless DCI allows it. I don't know if that's true. If it is,then DCi needs to step up to the plate, now.
  19. I don't know if this has been posted. Yesterday Steve Mnuchin said the "lock down" was likely to last "10-12 weeks,or early June". That's just the lock down. Then each state has to lift their own restrictions. Which,as I've I posted, will most likely be done incrementally. Then the shuttered businesses that survive, can start to reopen. As has also been posted, the Olympics will either be postponed,at least a year,or a number of athletes or countries will boycott. #DCI,what are you waiting for ?
  20. Accepting the above timeline is correct.Which does seem optimistic. 1.A number of school districts already shut down for the Spring Semester. Why would they go through the trouble and expense of opening schools to house a corps ? 2.As I posted,I don't see the restrictions imposed all over the country being lifted all at once. They'll most likely be removed, incrementally, state by state. Remove one restriction, wait to see its effect. So even if new cases stop in April,it could be weeks or months before all restrictions are lifted. 3.April does seem optimistic. Was just listening to N.J.'s Governor's Press Conference. He said "Flattening the Curve" reduces the "peak" number of cases,so you don't overwhelm you health care system. But id doesn't do anything to reduce the total number of cases. So "flattening the curve" extends the time you see new infections. 4.There's going to be significant financial impact on MM ,their families, fans etc. Their circumstances aren't going to change overnight. A lot of people are going to have a lot more important things to think about then entertainment. They were talking on the news today about families already canceling summer trips, vacations, etc. because of this.
  21. One big problem is that neither DCI or corps own/control any of the housing or practice sites or venues. Even in a normal season, corps lose housing sites at the last minute. This would be far from a normal season. From what's been put out by DCI,housing seems to be a big issue. I can't see anyplace giving any type of "assurance" that they will provide housing. Or ,if they say they would, changing their mind at any time. Right now, some places ,where "distance learning" isn't viable, have said they may need to hold summer classes. As has been posted, who would even consider housing a corps, especially if they might need to be quarantined . Even if every MM and staff is tested for Covid-19 before the tour, they can get infected, anytime. Practice facilities are another issue. There was an article today about how,Olympic athletes in sports like swimming, can't find open pools. If schools are closed, whether a corps is housed there or not,so are all their facilities, including fields. Right now, there's just too much uncertainty, and I can't see that changing.
  22. I didn't say "drum corps". I specifically said that DCI has never had to deal with any thing like this. Maybe you can think of something that had this kind of national impact, since DCI was founded. I can't
  23. DCI has never had to deal with anything like this. None of us has. As I posted in another thread, today Gov. Murphy shut down pretty much every business in NJ. He said this could go on for months The FAA closed all NY Area airports, due to corona staffing issues. I also think they will remove restrictions, incrementally, just like they put them in. See what happens when something is lifted. Then decide what's next. People also have to realize the economy isn't a light switch. It will take time, after all restrictions are lifted,to get back to close to normal. I wish someone could tell me one positive thing they've seen that, anything concerning this, is getting better, not worse. Then maybe I could see holding off on cancelling the season. Nothing positive,in fact the opposite, then now is the time.
  24. This afternoon Governor Murphy joined New York, Conn. and Ill. and shut down pretty much everything in the state. Murphy said this could be in place for months. Now the FAA stopped all flights into the NYC area airports, due to staffing issues, from Covid. I'm sorry, but to me,this has now reached the point where not cancelling the season makes no sense.
