  1. Even if DCI decided to move Finals, I don't think they'll go to any open air stadium. To many "what ifs" with weather.
  2. I know this is O.T. But, for those of us who were never on RAMD or REDDIT who is Catherine Burr ?
  3. I listened to several of Southern Raised songs. They do The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Maybe its me, but the part of the song, beginning at 3:10 of their video on YouTube, sure sounds a lot like Voracious.
  4. Thanks for posting this. Going to go O.T. I never heard of "Raised Southern". Listened tp some of their music on you tube. Unbelievably good !
  5. Don't know if this means anything. But, this morning I checked DCI's website for the Easts. Normally sections "Q" and "S" sell out pretty quickly. As of this morning, they still had a decent amount of sets left. Same thing, lower sections "H" and "I" sold pretty well (+/- 150 left in each). But hardly any sales in "G" and "J".
  6. Got ours too. Unlike last year,we didn't have any problems ordering.
  7. Goggling "27th lancers lawsuit " is a pretty good place to start.
  8. If I'm reading correctly, the NWSL investigation was commissioned by the US Soccer Federation. I would think, in the case of Drum Corps, any independent investigation would need to be commissioned by DCI. Sorry, but I just don't see that happening.
  9. Anyone think that DB's "retirement " may have something to do with the financial health of the organization ?
  10. From reading the article ,the car and driver fared far worse then the stadium.
  11. Everyone keeps saying "DCI is the corps and the corps are DCI". So, expecting DCI to do something is kind of like "the fox in the hen house". The only way to address this is with an independent governing body, with enforcement power to assure "zero tolerance". I just don't see corps going along with it. My my previous comments on dealing with abuse in DCI/WGI remain.
  12. My opinion: Scenario one: Call the police. If they can't help, call a lawyer. Even if they can help, call a lawyer Scenario 2: Have the victim's parents call the police. Then call a lawyer. As has been pointed out numerous times, the activity is incestuous. Until victims start going after the offenders ,directly criminally and/or civilly, nothing is going to change. As far as MAASIN, as far as I know they don't have any legal authority to do anything. I don't know if they've ever even got an abuser arrested. I don't know if they even have a lawyer on staff. If I'm a victim I go through legal channels first. I don't "post" anything ,unless I clear it with my lawyer ,first. And before anyone asks, I did come close to being the victim of a sexual abuser. I caught on in time, and nothing happened. I tried to report the guy to the police, but I only had a first name. I kept going back to the athletic field where the incident happened to try and get his license plate number. But, he never came back.
  13. Guess I should should have been clearer. "people" in my post refers to Cadets Alumni and Drum Corps fans.
  14. Maybe the Big Guy can get permission from Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuce to use some of his music in a Sopranos themed show. Great tie-in to the Sopranos, including Silvio being in the E Street Band.
  15. I live in North Jersey about 5-10 minutes from Garfield and Hackensack. I know a lot of Cadets Alumni. I can tell you that, in this area at least, there were a lot of people who weren't all that excited about her taking over the Cadets.
  16. Forgive me if I missed this on one of the threads. I presume Darcie Aungst and Alan Aungst are gone as well ?
  17. Ms.Bonfiglio is on the BoD, so just like with GH,I don't know how much "oversight" there actually is.
  18. At most concerts it doesn't matter that much where you sit. The sound systems are supposed to be designed so the audio is pretty much the same, even in the "nose bleeds". Plus, with video screens, no matter where you sit, you can see what going on on the stage. Usually better then you see from your seat.
  19. I don't know if they paid for the rights to the song or not. I remember there was an issue with "synching" video and music. The DVD for 2011 has audio only. Blacked out screen for the song.
  20. Kind of like what the Rose Parade does ? Build what you want and then explain how you think it fits the theme ?
  21. From what I've read , on 1/1/2023 Ohio will allow on line sports betting. I presume it can be done with a mobile app. I know in NJ , little while after allowing sports betting with a mobile app., NJ expanded mobile betting to include casino games. If Ohio goes that way, I would think that this could put a dent in this revenue stream.
  22. A couple of things: 1.From what I remember from previous forums, CA. is one of the few states that allowed BINGO with significant prize money. Also, if states did allow it to some extent, the explosion in on-line betting, including casino games would really hurt that revenue stream. As far as the conditions in Drum Corps, people handling business/marketing would not need to be "directly" involved with the corps' day to day operation. They'd be back "at the office" ,not on the road. The biggest issue would be corps allowing business/marketing experts to do their job and not get in their way.
  23. Does anyone know if , when The Cadets and what was YEA parted ways, they were saddled with any YEA debt ? As far as funding: Corps like BD have a built in revenue source from things like BINGO. Other corps as well as DCI aren't as fortunate. Yet it seems those other corps, and well as DCI , don't want hire people with a background Business or Marketing, especially for non-profits , that could improve their financial situation. This causes them to miss out on a number of marketing opportunities. One small example. I own a small business in northern NJ. Every year, back when they were still in NJ, The Cadets used to solicit ads for the programs for their shows from all local businesses. From reading their programs, a lot of businesses, with no Drum Corps ties, took out ads. Then they stopped. I called to ask why and was told it was up to me to contact them to place an ad. Of course, even if corps or DCI did hire people with the right background, they would have to be open to what they propose. The funding model for a lot of corps and DCI seems to be "keep going back to the same well" (Alumni/Boosters) and asking for more money. They also seem to follow the "kick the can down road" school of financing. Just my $0.02.
  24. You should read "Pledged, The Secret Life Of Sororities" by Alexandra Robbins. Eye opening.
