I'm left scratching my head this year with Regiment. I cannot understand why their show is flat for me.

Hmmmm. I must admit that sometimes the activity confuses me. A 5 point jump a week ago and now the Troopers have stagnated. This seems to happen every year where the folks from Casper just don't move at all while other corps have a more steady upswing. I must admit that I have not been able to go to many shows this year (and I have abandoned Fan Network) so is it simply that the Troopers' show had reached its ceiling whereas others' have not?

It does my heart good to read this thread. It just tickles me to see how uptight some of you are about order placement for some of the "lower tier" corps. With a glass of gin in one hand and my dentures gleaming, I say, "It's about dam* time!"

I've had this question before and maybe someone can shed some light on this for me. How does that judge fellow who runs around the whole show with the percussion line, while darting about trying not to die possibly judge that caption? I see him talking into his little mini tape player but he must be saying, "holy snhikes that was close! WHOA! I just about got ran over...again!"

What's exciting to me is the slot the Troopers drew for San Antonio. This is one of the single biggest opportunities I've seen the Troopers get in a very long time. If they can focus and do what they've been taught it could go a long way to pushing them forward for the foreseeable future.

I am curious to know how y'all have managed your hard earned money as it relates to FanNetwork this year. I realize this poll may be overly simple since there are a number of other options (e.g. you paid a subscription for the whole season last year whereas this year you purchased one or two individual shows). This is the first year in a very long time that I have not spent any money on the service.

Would love to hear reports from the corps to see how the elevation affects their performance. There ain't much air up thar. I know that when I go to visit family in Laramie I'm suckin' wind before I get to the top of the stairs.

At 7,200 feet above sea level Laramie Wyoming is nearly 2,000 feet higher than Denver. Is this the highest elevation show ever? I've always wanted to see a show at War Memorial Stadium and can only imagine how great the view will be with crisp sound. But, alas I'm stuck in the home here in Illinois.

This is a dress rehearsal for me for whether or not I decide to pay for the package, so that is why I'm asking questions about audio quality. I'm thankful this is free, but... What kind of audio are you all gettin'? I'm only getting stereo.

What kind of audio are you all receiving? I am getting stereo. I was expecting that new fangled surround sound.

Is anyone getting a hum over the top of the video?

Just coming off of detached retina surgery so it took me quite a bit longer to read this thread, but I did read all of it and I sympathize with many of you. Having subscribed to the Fan Network on the world wide interweb for so many years, I too am disappointed with the news of its demise. It was routine practice for me to have a couple folks into my room to watch shows from previous years. For example, some nights we would have a "Regiment Night" where we would go way back and watch only Phantom Regiment shows. We would drink a little gin and even throw toilet paper at the screen. Also, the Video On Demand is important to me because my bedtime is much earlier because of my age and it's just too hard to stay awake. This might be the first year I don't pay for a video service from DCI. Sigh.

P.S. Is it true that a couple years ago they played around with opening the roof for either a BOA or DCI event? If so, what were the results of that experiment?

I really like Indianapolis. I know some want other activities outside of drum corps and I can understand their frustration with always being in the same city. However, for me it's all about Drum Corps and I never have plans to go to the zoo, etc. I stay up late at the show, meander back to my room and maybe have a drink and sleep in the next day...get up and get ready for another day of drum corps (hitting the park for warmups, etc.). There are plenty of restaurant options and everything is within walking distance. As for Lucas . . . Meh. I do love the padded seats and controlled environment but it simply can't compare to outdoor stadiums (of which I think that Mile High is the single best venue for drum corps).

Is it me or are the Cadets leaving the field early?

I just wanted to poke my head in to the forum tonight. I came home this afternoon after a full day of Prelims and Semifinals with the grandkids. I couldn't stay for finals because I had to rest up for tomorrow's bridge tournament in the rec room! Big money and bragging rights are on the line. I've got my little complaints, but overall 2014 will go down as one of my favorite years in recent memory. Thank you to EVERYONE (bus moms, drivers, directors, educators, members, and on and on) who worked so hard to treat us fans to some great moments and memories. P.S. Mr. Gibbs, last year I wrote you a pretty opinionated letter and you responded graciously (even though you disagreed). This year you gave us an amazing championship show that was superb and I wanted to especially thank you. Keep it coming!

I'm wandering around downtown Indy and stopped to give my poor aching feet a break. For some of you have been around awhile you know George and I are an on again off again thing. I dream that he dreams of me. I LOVE the Cadets. But, I ain't scared of Mr. Hopkins and deep down, he knows I'm always right.
