  1. One performanceat a time Ray, one performance at a time...
  2. Yankee Rebels, The response I received to my e-mail asking if you would like to perform with the Yankee Rebels Drum and Bugle Corps at the 2012 DCA Championship Weekend to be held in Annapolis, Maryland, was overwhelming! "The Corps from the Chesapeake Bay" will appear in concert at this great drum corps weekend's individual, ensemble and mini-corps competition on Friday evening, August 31st. Our goal is to represent the State of Maryland with the showmanship and execution for which the Yankee Rebels have been known for many, many years. Most importantly, this one-time event will allow us to see our fellow 'Rebels and welcome our drum corps friends to "our backyard." Like so many other DCA championship weekends this will be a lot of fun, but this time we won't have to travel so far to enjoy the event. To get ready for this show, a planning session and rehearsal will be held SATURDAY, November 12th at the YMCA, 10 Dunmanway Dundalk, MD 21222 (go to the side of buillding on Trading Place) beginning at 12:00 noon. I look forward to seeing everyone again and putting on a drum corps show at DCA that we all can remember! Thanks, Phil Gentile
  3. I'll be there. The Rebs are taking a bus up. Our party begins at 7:00 a.m. Thursday morning. Can you say ROAD TRIP! Looking forwad to seeing all of my St. Kevins friends again. Gus
  4. For those of you who were on the inside, you missed an extremely classy act performed by our brothers and sisters of the Hawthorne Caballeros. Just prior to our taking the stage, The Hawthorne Caballeros marched down toward the rear door to the stage and lined up single file on each side of the sidewalk to salute the Rebels as we marched between them to take the stage. I have never been prouder to be a Rebel and former Caballero than I did that afternoon. It was tough to keep a dry eye as I marched through the Cabs presentation. It was one of the classiest acts I have ever seen in my drum corps career. I would be amiss if I also didn't mention the fantastic send off that our hosts, The Reilly Raiders gave us. We could have not have asked for a better send off. I really loved their little addition of Dixie towards the end of their performance. Just the right touch. Thank you for your gracious hospitality. Gus
  5. And Mike should know. He was in the horn line back then.
  6. I guess that I must be getting dumber as I get older because when I was younger, I knew everything there was to know about everthing.
  7. Nice review Mike. Bea and I had a great time up there. I almost spit my beer out when you guys started singing. For those of you who missed the show... You missed one of the great ones.
  8. A lot of people make the mistake of thinking that the performing corps and the alumni association are one in the same. They are not. The Yankee Rebel Alumni Association is a completely separate organization from the performing corps. We (the alumni association), are not folding and continue to be a vibrantly active social organization and member of GAS. I know for a fact that the YR Alumni Association is not sponsoring the Dixie Stinger. I should know, I'm the Vice President of the alumni association.
  9. If the Yankee Rebels are no longer a performing corps, and the Dixie Stinger 2011 is still going to go on, WHO is going to be sponsoring/running the Dixie Stinger?
  10. We are what we are because we ain't what we use to be.
  11. To Gus, John and Barbara Flowers, Skee Derr and all the other members of the Rebels: Thank you, gentlemen and ladies for many years of entertainment. I salute you all. Thanks John.
