Yeah, that is the big problem...the huge added expense. I know Roman hates spending money on stuff like that, just to be competitive and stay in the fold and to appease that horn or music guy that will only be with the corps for what, two years maybe until they move on.

and you must be very new to the activity....DCA will follow, they are always just a few steps behind

NWTA might be the one...mostly midwest states, but still a national org. Maybe MWTA....it was so long ago...

NW Ohio, actually champions for some national org. that escapes me at this time, but not DCI.

Mancini would be an excellent choice, by any level of corps! BTW, you will never, ever touch the hearts of the people like WE did in 85 VK with Peter Gunn. Just say'n!

Hmmm...odd, because I was not raised on opera. I discovered my love for classical music and opera through drum corps, Gen. Putnam's Men to be exact. Our opener of Carnival Overture in 81, as well as our closer of Brahm's 1st Symphony made a profound impact on my musical tastes. As well as the classical radio station in Montreal, something very foreign and wonderful to my NW Ohio ears and brain.

Just got the update that the Colt A corps brass is having a true revival, under the tutelage of the legend Chuck Naffier! Watch out for some big things coming out of old Dubuque this year!

They used an English shank. I owned one too after my first corps folded. Really crappy horns, stuffy, no real bass tone coming out of them, but at least they were a start.

I am glad you posted about the online videos! I am watching them right now and I must say, Defenders are pretty dang good! Some of my all time favorite corps tunes in that show! I remember doing that show with the Kilties...it was a blast!

I could really hype into playing this music!!!
