  1. Scott, On 7/5/1971 in Lacrosse, WI (day after Dubuque contest, two days after Wheeling) Santa Clara won, Troopers were second and Madison third. Blue Stars were in judged exhibition as this was their home contest (Mississippi Rhapsody) All three corps you are looking for in that first location, SCV, Scouts and Blue Stars were here (along with Troopers) so this could very possibly be it.
  2. A couple old articles/ads from my collection, thought someone here may enjoy them. Both pieces come from summer/fall issues of the 1974 Poughkeepsie Journal (the first one from September 74 and the second from July 74)
  3. Dan, I think you are correct, I also thought the same thing before I posted it. I even started to write St. Paul's name, but, two things stopped me. The photo is listed as Madison Explorer Scouts 1968. I knew Madison wore the West Point uniforms but I could not remember exactly when they went back to the scout uniform so I thought maybe the photo was tagged correctly. What also threw me off was that St. Paul's around this time wore white ties and not scarfs but the drum colors and striping do match St. Paul's.
  4. Another Scouts photo from around same time period, 69, 70? (may be St Paul, looks like Madison's flags)
  5. St. Patrick's Imperials, bass5 is correct, drum line and rifles in kilts. (drumline 71-73, rifles 71-72) And ajedrummer is correct about the color, the uniform is kelly green. (looks like some faulty film and/or developing in a couple of the previous photos) When they merged into the "Thing" the rifles wore black skirts with the same tops pictured below minus the kilt material coming over the shoulder. (drum line were still in kilts) The 1973 horns and flags wore the Thunderbolts uniform and the drums and rifles wore the Imperials uniform.
