  1. I also had Blue Stars in second at this show, and was pretty surprised to see they were behind both Boston and Phantom (a similar thing happened after watching Kalamazoo online). I will say this--I think they are visually dirty, but those kids are RUNNING. I'm hopeful that they will clean up the show and get the recognition they deserve for the demand that their product has. If they can do that, watch out! Great review!
  2. Adding to my previous post regarding Avon HS's drumline, I will also go out on a limb and say that THEY really started the visual movement that BD's drumline has exploited so well these past few years. Just my opinion, of course. Nothing against BD, either.
  3. You should also check out Avon HS's 2003 World Class Drumline show, titled "Optics." ...complete with large, movable mirror panels. EDIT: Are YouTube videos allowed of non-drum corps ensembles? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sM0I9-RPnT0
  4. You are assuming that the judging is 100% flawless. If it were flawless, then your logic would be absolutely correct. BUT, you are basing your judgments on a system that IS NOT perfect. Therefore, your logic is flawed. Your OPINION is fine. What you claim as FACT is not.
  5. Then it's snobbish. And also the very definition of flawed logic.
  6. I think this is a little unfair. I don't want to get on either side of this argument, but it's not fair to say that this is FACT and NOT DEBATABLE. Are you really saying you've examined every single show each year, from the standpoint of EVERY SINGLE MEMBER, regarding their PHYSICAL actions, MUSICAL requirements, AND MENTAL demands? Come on. Just agree with me that that's a little bit pretentious.
  7. Really? Maybe it's just my opinion, but I'm over this. There is nothing LESS musical to me than twenty seconds of just noise I believe I read a post of yours in another thread about not being able to hum BD's music this year. You can't hum a "20 second wall of sound," either. Just my opinion. EDIT: Okay, obviously you CAN hum a "20 second wall of sound," but you get my point
  8. Wait, really? I had no idea! Seriously...that's funny! Good for him!
  9. So, basically, all you care about are the corps that play loud. Anybody else just doesn't really tickle your pickle. That's perfectly, fine, but... The 21st century called...it needs you to join them.
  10. I have decided to stay out of this thread...until I read this point. As someone with contacts in all of the "Top 6" and most of the "Top 12," I'm just completely lost at the fact that this entire thread was started by "former BD bari." In regards to hostility: Let's just forget about the words thrown by a certain blue team against the 2001 winning team...words I certainly wouldn't want my daughter to hear. Let's just forget about the words thrown by a certain blue team against the score of the 2002 winning team Let's just forget about the words thrown by a certain 2003 winning team against a certain green team (we can even ignore the blue team's actions the night they overtook the green team in Indy, if you like) Let's just forget about the words thrown by a certain blue team against the 2004 winning team In 2005, they behaved themselves...probably because they didn't have much on the field to back them up Let's just forget about the COUNTLESS MEDALS thrown by a certain blue team towards the 2006 silver medalist (I also heard they gave a certain green team a good tongue-lashing at San Antonio encore in 2006...that is, until the scores were announced, and this certain blue team never spoke another word the rest of the night...talk about tail between your legs) Let's just forget about certain blue team alumni TAUNTING MULTIPLE OTHER TOP FIVE CORPS IN 2007 AT THEIR WARM-UP two out of the three nights Let's just forget about the COUNTLESS MORE MEDALS thrown by a certain blue team towards the 2008 champion...the same corps from 2006 I would agree, there IS some misdirected hostility in this activity. Congratulations to all corps last night. This continues to be the most interesting season in a long time!
  11. I wasn't trying to freak out, I just found that quote interesting, considering the past decade or so! Let's face it, Phantom, Carolina, and Bloo all put out some serious sound. Good for the Cavaliers for at least being up there volume-wise!
  12. I was going more for the Alice in Wonderland quote, but Harry Potter works too!
  13. Cavaliers only 0.1 behind Carolina in Brass?! This season just gets curioser and curioser...
  14. SO true. And add to it that it was a pretty considerable margin (0.65) over Crown...this is getting interesting! This season is shaping up to be the most exciting in years!
  15. So that's what the Cadets have been up to...they've been making their way over to Colorado! Should be an interesting night!
  16. Hahaha! I really liked the Great Chicago Fire, the banning of cell phones, and Gaines' arrest!
  17. HA. Can we mold a Freudian slip outta that?
  18. I've heard similar things regarding JD Shaw's "Brass Boot Camp" and the Emmert brothers' visual teachings...
  19. Not knowing ANY slightest thing about percussion, I've heard that Crown's percussion is their Achilles heel this year, and that it's just dirty. Seems to be like having a few less snares will clean it up, no? Sorry if this is an amateur comment!
  20. Correct. I agree with the judging, I just had my facts mixed up, so my prior post had little to no to meaning! Your hidden slam has been noted
  21. ...he never said they weren't...? Sheesh, can't a proud alum compliment his corps these days? Take a chill pill!
