  1. Some people straight up lost their jobs with no warning. A little empathy would go a long way.
  2. They do have a pretty good track record with their work at Music City the last few years. And knowing these guys personally, they're a cut above. Super talented, smart team. They'll do great things.
  3. THIS. It's wild to me why they don't just do this. The show is mixed by professionals who know how to mix the show for the judges/audience. Why are we trusting people to live mix multiple field mics and direct feeds on the fly? It's never an accurate representation of the live product. Cell phone videos are dramatically better in the audio mix department, and it's not even close
  4. Not sure if this is the same shirt that was referenced earlier in the thread, but I still have this one. My students bought it for me, so I have no idea whose booth it came from. It's hilarious now that I get paid to do live sound for pageantry groups.
  5. 94 for sure. Simple, clean and iconic. Seems every iteration since then as been ADD MORE STUFF TO IT. Give me minimalism.
  6. I got goosebumps on parts of my body I didn't know existed. Good lord this show is fantastic!
  7. How does the music reflect that? I'm not getting any of that outside of the guard.
  8. I've seen this show 4 times now (twice live), and I just do not understand any of it. Can someone explain what is going on? I legitimately would like a little insight, as I'd really like to enjoy this show, but I'm left more confused than anything. I can definitely appreciate the technical demand of what they're putting out, but it plays out like a David Lynch movie to me. Not trying to be flame bait, I just think if it's explained to me I might like it much more. Thanks!
  9. Am I crazy, or were the prelims before the theater show streaming free last year? It's looking like I have to order the entire championships package in order to view shows today. I'm going to indy tomorrow and just want to watch the early shows today.
  10. Eat at Yats. Cajun and creole for way less than it shold cost. And they always have multiple vegetarian options ready. Everything I've ever eaten from there is the best thing I've ever eaten. http://www.yatscajuncreole.com
  11. I've done my part in not spending a penny on anything related to drum corps since amps came into the picture. If you're really serious about it, your dollar is your vote. If enough people take their money away from the activity because of the things they do, they'll start to realize that people don't like it how it is.
  12. 1998. One of my alltime favorite shows to not win. The best version of it was the Mid-season recording before they watered the heck out of the horn book. There were all kinds of runs in the closer that got axed in favor of half notes. I'm glad I kept that midseason CD.
  13. you're absolutely right. This was my argument against amps in the first place. For me Cavaliers 2002 was indicitive of exactly how much was still left undone in the art, and that adding unnatural things was entirely unnecessary. There's a reason I haven't been a drum corps show since 2003.
  14. Anything and everything from Colts 98. Finale from Firebird Suite - Cavies 97. Hammering of the Ring - Phantom 97 (omg drumline). Heat of the Day (Matheny) - Xmen 02. Riverdance - Pioneer 97. First Circle (Matheny again) - Xmen 98. Alfred Reed's Symphony for Brass and Percussion - Xmen 95. Allegro from Shostakovich's Symphony #2 - BK 98. Rodeo - CBC 96/
  15. I disagree with the best shirt call. That would have to be the Glassmen shirt reading: "BoringBb: we took the G out of Boring" made me laugh for a good 20 minutes. On a side note I officially wet myself at the end of PR's show. The wedge at the end with the trademark 89 kneel brought a tear to my eye, no joke. d### I love drum corps!
