  1. The necklaces began in 2010. Each new necklace comes with a gold ring and a show bead for that season. Subsequent show beads are earned as you march each season. As was mentioned before, gold and silver beads are earned if you stick around a while. Section beads are thrown in the mix as well. The yearly membership pins are still a tradition.
  2. Gold will get its next score next weekend in Reading.
  3. Hi Holly! Gold was somehow already in the "list of charities" on the Chase Community Giving Facebook page. We are listed by our "official" name as known to the IRS. I imagine that's how everyone is listed. .....But, I did find this in the rules: - be recognized as a 501©(3) public charity in the Guidestar database as of 12/31/10 and be available for selection through the Chase Community Giving application as of 10/26/11; If you are not already listed, I don't know how to make your group "available for selection." I'm hoping someone can shed a little more light on this for you.
  4. Carolina Gold is participating in the Chase Community Giving program and could use your vote. As was done on the DCI side, let's support each other and share our votes! Every vote counts. Who else is in? Carolina Gold
  5. Carolina Gold on the DCA side is accepting votes as well. Let's all share our votes and support each other. Carolina Gold
  6. Good luck to you guys in your efforts in making it back to the field. We at Gold know from our season off in 2007 that it will take a lot of hard work, but it's obvious you guys are determined and up to the challenge. We look forward to seeing you on the field in 2012!
  7. Hi Dreu, You will find that a lot of corps now charge for Open House. For us, it's simply a way to help offset the administrative costs it takes to run the event. If prospective members stay on with us, money paid goes towards their dues. We use "auditions" as a way to help place people on parts, particularly in the horn line. For percussion and guard, it is more like a true audition. Auditions also provide a way for members to really take ownership of their spot. There's a bigger sense of pride when members know they had to "work" for it. I do want to emphasize that no one is ever cut from the corps. We find a place for anyone who really wants to be there. As you know, opportunity lies around every corner.
  8. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! Wishing you and your family "Happy Holidays" from your friends at Carolina Gold Drum & Bugle Corps
  9. Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement! With just one week to go, the anticipation and excitement of starting our 10th season is boiling over! As for that show announcement…stay tuned!

  13. Carolina Gold would like to congratulate our very own Executive Director Dwayne Barnes for being selected as a member of the Atlantic Indoor Association (AIA) Hall of Honor. AIA Website The Hall of Honor is the highest recognition given to those individuals who make a significant contribution to Atlantic Indoor Association, and who have in some way influenced the course of AIA history. Their contribution may be made through leadership, adjudication or instruction. Regardless of the vessel of their work, these people represent dedication, determination and a commitment to serving others through promoting education in the performing arts.
