  1. D.M. Daniel told us that it's supposed to get up into the 40's this weekend. I've heard a few things about doing some kind of drill inside, but with the remains of 93 inches of snow on the ground, I doubt there will be much chance to go outside -Weedy
  2. My friends just ordered their tickets to come see the Southeastern Classic. Last year their seats weren't too good, so I'm hoping they have a better place this year. Their tickets are in section 116 around row 25. I'm worried about them being too close to the pit. Does anyone have any experience with these seats? and for future reference, what would you say the best seats in the Georgia Dome are? Thanks! -Weedy
  3. Actually, I've heard there is some familiar stuff, but for the most part, this show is different than their previous Spartacus shows. I have heard from some sources that it is very "dark"
  4. Every Madison Scouts performance that I've seen has been exciting for me. I was talking about this the other day with some guys... I was thinking that last year marching Spirit, we pretty much knew we were locked in 12th place for finals night... I think after we finished our last movement, we should have arced it up in front of the front sideline and played Georgia one last time... we were in finals and we couldn't drop in placement... I think it would have been cool. -Weedy
  5. YES! -Weedy p.s- I didn't know you had twins... how old are they and where are they going to march ?
  6. It all depends on the musical, the arrangements of the music, which corps it is, etc. You could probably make a difficult book out of Sweeney Todd's music and make a cool show with it... than of course there is always "City of Angels"
  7. MAN! What a weekend that was! I can't wait for the next one. Jason, it was good seeing you again and thanks for the shirt! -Weedy
  8. Hey all, about a year and a half ago, I made a post in the historical junior corps forum. I was looking for 1988 finals night retreat videos. Does anybody know where I could find this? Any help is appreciated! -Weedy
  9. Hey all, I hate to bring back a topic that's been dead for almost a year and a half... I still have never seen the video and there are multiple members/alumni who would really like to see the video. Could anybody help out?
  10. The Blue Stars lady from this last season... she had to yell "GO_______________" 20 times in Atlanta and I think she was at quarterfinals doing it also.
  11. I wanted to be the one that made the first topic http://www.dci.org/news/view.cfm?news_id=7...62-09d0ac23bedc I will be voting for... 6. 2007 Phantom Regiment 5. 2005 Carolina Crown 4. 2006 Bluecoats 3. 2005 Phantom Regiment 2. 2006 Madison Scouts (At least I'll admit to being biased) 1. 2005 Madison Scouts (First Madison show I saw)
  12. Or... ...come audition for the Madison Scouts
  13. If I remember correctly, Chip Crotts (BD Soloist '92; ex-Spirit Brass Caption Head; Phantom Regiment co-brass caption head) played for Manhattan Transfer... just thought I'd throw that out there.
  14. Hey Jason, I was told by a member of our front ensemble that he was visual caption head in '05 and '06. He comes around to visual blocks every once in a while and gives tips. Actually, the picture of him in his bio on the Madison Scouts webpage looks like it is of him addressing a visual problem. I'm assuming you'll be at the camp this weekend. I can't wait to get up there again. See you in a few days.
  15. Every days at JSU on that artificial turf, doing pilates. I think that turf gets up close to 120 degrees. Also I remember North Carolina being really freaking hot. If I remember right, we had to go inside around 1:30 to do horn arc indoors. And Phoenix was pretty warm.
  16. Pirates of Lake Mendota is one of my favorite shows.
  17. Far less narration than last year! Exactly what I was hoping to hear.
  18. That was before the hornlines got louder because of the switch to b-flat/f! jk -Weedy
  19. I think that a few corps will do it in 2009, but I think that most will watch and see how others use it before trying it themselves. I would say Cadets in 2009 are for sure though.
  20. Coming back from camp last month I had to stay with a host overnight. I was using her computer and noticed that dcp wasn't in the history of her computer and when I asked her about it, she said the same thing. She said that it had was a good idea, but a big well of negativity, and I couldn't agree more. There is a lot of disappointing stuff floating around DCP. -Weedy
  21. That's really good of the judge to do. It is customary to stand with your hand over your heart and face the flag during the pledge no matter what the context is. A few years ago I learned from my dad(Col. U.S. Army Ret.) that some people get upset when Taps is played in the middle of medleys because after Taps is sounded there is supposed to be silence. On a side note, I got goosebumps the first time I watched that show and it got to that part. That is definitely one of my 2 favorite Cadets shows... I can't decide if I like '89 Cadets better or not. -Weedy
  22. Jason loves Southwind. I think that saying "I love drum corps" was a better way of saying "bump" to keep this thread where people would see it. I like Jason's way of doing it a little better. I hope Southwind is doing well and I hope that anyone that can afford to send them anything will do so. The last thing we need is for another world class corps to disappear forever. Especially not SW -Weedy
  23. This last summer Michael and I were having a debate about whether we were in the desert or not. We got a little carried away with laughing (it was late and we couldn't tell if the shadows we were seeing were bushes or cacti) and our bus kept breaking down, AND there was no AC on. Michael and I managed to find humor in the situation. The bus captain didn't think it was so funny though that we kept him awake for so long.
  24. I thought it had already been leaked that we're playing "Variations on a Theme by Prince"
  25. I think it's fun to keep people guessing. I think it gets more people hyped up about the show because they keep thinking about it. I don't know if that's the reason why corps do it, but I like people being in suspense. When the show title was announced last year, I started calling friends and talking about it and we talked a lot that night about how cool it would be. It helps keep people's attention. -Weedy
