If you study the recap.....Phantom has a lot better chance to win than I think people think! Look at William Chumley's score, big difference, probably a big mistake, by around a point, maybe? If he would have had them in the ballpark, Phantom would have hit almost 94.. So either Phantom needs to take care of this caption, or a different judge will make up for this score discrepancy.

A couple things: The color guard judges score does not count 100%.......I have noticed a couple conversations about this on DCP and wondered why nobody was telling people that.....so as far as weight...that is 4 visual judges, one not counting 100%, so 3 1/2? You can say the same thing for the visually strong corps, Crown has only been successful the past few years, because of the visual side? They were not doing as well in brass and percussion back then..........one could argue almost the same for Cavaliers And this one I might be wrong about, because it is a new concept, but the 2nd percussion judge is at every show that "matters"....so 5 music scores I understand your point, I think the opposite extreme, music we know and understand, and yes when a corps plays well that is great........but all these new visual ideas are what I think are the future of the activity...........I pretty sure I am correct when I say that most fans do not want new music, we all like the recognizable, but the new visual stuff is what is cool......

This is something more people should read, this is what drum corps is about.......as I have found myself discovering this website, and keeping up with it, I have noticed a lot of the people on here complain about things changing in drum corps, or placements, etc.........real people that spent more than one year in drum corps know that is not what it is about, when you are marching it is about making friends and getting to know people in other corps, and getting to know your corps history and traditions.......I do have a problem with some of these "new, up and coming" corps.........only because they do not have as long as traditions, so to a lot of their members it is about competition and where they place......but that hopefully will change over time.... The corps that have been around forever are more proud of their history, than their scores..................the spectators who know this, you can tell who has marched at places that teach that...........by the posts on here......please just enjoy drum corps, because that is what 99% of the marchers do!

Then why do you go WATCH the corps in the stadium.....if it was just about music, then just buy the c.d.'s It is more music based by the way, there are 5 music judges. versus 4 visual judges.....if you do well in music, then by simple math that helps out your score the most.....I am assuming drum corps was made to get to go WATCH corps in a different setting, as opposed to someone watching at a normal concert. The visual side of the activity is what a lot of people are trying to figure out, musicians come from everywhere, where are they getting these visual people and their ideas?

Still not quite sure why everyone is so against things changing in drum corps? It is an artistic activity, it is suppose to keep changing, that is how life and art happen. I couldnt imagine someone telling a musician not to use certain things because that is not how it has been. I understand the older fans wanting it to be the same, but movies and tv shows are the same way, they are going to change.....accept it, or stop watching. I hope DCI keeps changing and keeps bringing NEW to the activity.............thank you George......10 years from now you will be appreciated, not for electronics, blah, blah blah......but for pushing for the artistic side of this activity to take a new route.

The idea that you would want to hinder anything creative amazes me......it is the same thing to say, certain reading materials should not be allowed, it is almost hypocrital to say we need new designers to bring back the past.........most of the greats of our time now, are great because they changed what was happening in the past, that is how progress works, if the past is what you liked, then pull out videos, I pray to god that 10 years from now, there will be some brand new idea going on that you will be complaining about, this makes it exciting to know something new will be going on, and progress will happen........ Just to be clear, anything that changes in life, has two fences: the ones who are excited about change and driving it, and the ones that are "comfortable" with the past, and put a wall up to change: i.e. computers, cell phones, etc....(yes it is hard to believe that people were against these, but certain people were).......the world almost always learns and gets better from change.....DCI will do the same, Bring on more changes, keep heading to the future.

What year.....they haven't given color guard awards at BOA for a long time

Guards like Avon and Flanagan graduate big classes every year, this has nothing to do with being at the top.....Show design and intelectual appeal are what keep you up there...
