  1. OMG Ron found DCP....hide your kids! Just kidding RON!!! LOVE YOU!!
  2. Thanks Sam. So if come down there, I'd probably fit right in. Heard ya'll live in the gutter.
  3. Sounds like a personal question. Leave it to you to sink us all into the gutter at the same time. :P
  4. That's one reason why I chose not to play brass. Wearing a harness is out too, so no drums. Guard seems to be a happy medium. You guys were hurtin' out there. Drum Corps...no pain...no gain.
  5. Some of us still has burn marks from carelessly picking up our flag poles while they were still cooking in the sun.
  6. That reminded me of something funny that happened.... Last year in the SCV Alumni Corps, we were learning the bottle dance. SCV signature. Being the 90's girl, I asked if we're supposed to smile while doing this. Let me just say, to this day, the girls still give me crap about that.
  7. No...it depends on what you are comfortable with and what your school can afford. I found www.sabreline.net to be helpful. My guard is spinning the light weight 36" rifles this marching band season. They are all beginners. No sabres yet this year. They are fundraising to buy them for the Winter Guard season. For myself. I own the 39" Spanish Sabre. It seems to be the only weapon I found I did not hurt myself with. And the added benefit to that is it's looks impressive.

  9. Hi, Just wanted to put in my 2 cents... I noticed that you're currently in Farminton, MN. There are a couple of senior corps in the area. Chops, inc. and Minnesota Brass. I'd suggest that you and your band director and your friends who are as interested as you are, go check them out. Summer is the hieght of Corps season. Go check out rehearsals, take notes. Shows and competitions are very intense. I lived in MN for a while. There is an Independent Winter Guard in the area. I don't remember what they are called anymore, but there is one around. Check in to that too. If you are starting something at your school like a Winter Guard or something, start small and slowly. Get as much help as you can. Hope that helps... :)
  10. 93 - Cadets 91 - SCV 98 - BD (Girls) 99 - Madison 90 - SCV Red absolutely beautiful dresses, they wore those until Gail Royer decided that there was too much red on the field, so they had go with the white unitard and black crochet wrap.
  11. I think November would be a better time for me also. Look out, more evilness next season.
  12. How about you RUN not walk to SAN FRANCISCO.....I saw a video of 27 in 1980 --we can use a few more good ones like you! :P Thank you Ms. LisaLIsaMoMeesa. If I were closer I'd join quicker than BlueDevilLegend did!! me too...he he he Aren't you closer? Oh, wait, it is a huge state. I always think in terms of tiny states! But San Fran does sound nice..... I am close. In fact, so close that I babysit the Renegades' Guard instructor Kathy's son when she needs me to. I wish I could do it. But I am a single mom. My son is priority at the moment, not drum corps. I know I know <**>

  14. I agree JoJo (Hey Girl!!). Not to demean the winning of High Guard because we all know that it takes alot of hard work to achieve that honor. But, I think that to SCV we were always in the state of mind that as Horns, Drums and Colorguard we were one. As SCV, we won as one or lost as one. I don't know, maybe I'm just looking back with a different point of view now. i think ive gotten similar vibes from them. Youll see other corps, not necessarily brag, but promote the fact that they have won certain captions (ie, BD with brass and guard, Cadets with percussion)....but you never really see anything like that from SCV. They dont make "percussion world champion" shirts, or have "high brass 2001" embroidered on their jackets. I got goosebumps when I read that last one. Total Deja Vu. Wish I aged out. P.S. Hi JoJo, Maggie, and Trish!
  15. I am an SCV fan, obviously. 1991 was awesome. That was my first live Drum Corps show ever. I fell in love with the theatrical beauty that was captured in that show. 1994 SCV - also I thought wouldn't be the same without the beautiful guard. 1993 Star - the guard made that show 1993 Cadets - those costumes made me sweat just looking at them. They were beautiful. It completed the look and the feel of the production. 1995 BD - I was intimidated. Watching that performance, I really wasn't looking at anything else but the guard.
  16. 9 in SCV A-Corps this year... http://www.scvanguard.org/vanguard/2003/staff.php
  17. There is no question in my mind that gloves are a must when it comes to spinning & tossing sabres & rifles.
