  1. People have different ideas about what "transparency" is.
  2. I've said the same thing last year when SCV had their problem. It's only the beginning.
  3. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Too many people come off like things should be perfect and forget that, just like with a Presidency, things implemented today can take years to actually show up. Stop spouting off like you know every in-and-out that comes out of Cadets. Some people choose to donate directly to the corps instead of the GoFundMe link.
  4. I am truly hoping for the best outcome for all of you.
  5. I don't think we're debating how transparent they were. You pretty much agreed that they were transparent. But that's neither here nor there. More importantly, I can understand wanting to know why two of the most important people had left the organization.
  6. I completely agree with you. However, I do not pretend to know the inner workings of each corps, especially Cadets. But I'd also like to believe, based on what I've seen them do in the past couple years in terms transparency, that that they are doing what they need to do to mitigate those issues. I guess for me, I'm just trying to remain positive throughout this entire thing. The more worrying thing for me is, given we've seen two top tier drum corps have to take a year off because of issues dealing with finances, this may happen to other corps in the near future.
  7. But they were transparent (I'm talking about Cadets reasoning for taking 2024 off). Just because some don't like the information that was provided doesn't negate that fact.
  8. I kid I kid. I get your point. Mine is usually the latter.
  9. Your exaggeration notwithstanding, the CEO(?) did put out a statement explaining what led them to this point. I think the issue is many people do not accept it as gospel, and that's fine. But many people feel they weren't being transparent when that's not absolutely the case.
  10. All of us have dirty laundry. I don't expect for a drum corps or any organization to be completely "clean."
  11. I've always respected your posts so the debate was a really good thing for me. I always learn a lot from people when I come on here, you included. Thank you as well.
  12. We can go on and on and on about this, but let's just say our passion for drum corps is leaving us with views that neither of us can change. And that's perfectly ok. I will say this: I LOVE your profile name.
  13. 1. I do not know and never said I did. But it would be helpful if those who actually post things like this also post a disclaimer that they've reached out to that corps and received no answers or poor answers to their question. But that's only a suggestion and not saying that's what needs to happen. 2. Honesty for whom? I am willing to bet that some of those who complain THE MOST about specific corps are the ones who donate the least. So why should someone have to prove anything to them if they already have preconceived notions (proven or unproven) about said corps? 3. I can neither speak for Vanguard nor Cadets. What I DO know is there have been many times in which I had a specific question about what Cadets were doing, and given I still have minor relationships with some of those who were and are still affiliated with this corps, I usually get the answers I think are acceptable for me. But that's me. I can neither speak for nor against anyone who may or may not have done the same thing. 4. Mitigated for the VICTIMS. THEY'RE the ones who are the most important in that. If he's no longer affiliated with the corps and the corps have followed the rules of DCI and the laws imposed on the state or country, I don't see what else is the problem or why Cadets as a whole "cannot be trusted." I think it is important to ensure none of what happened in the past happens again, but the point is he's no longer there.
  14. No, I'm sure we both have the same concerns which is why I started this thread in the first place. I'm sure you both know this happens with many organizations and not just within drum corps. I am not ok with giving political answers either, but it doesn't hurt to ask the source to see if you can get an answer. This is my view as well. Victims are a different story as their story should be told. But those who have no skin in the game, or who weren't victims of anything that specific corps may have done, well, I cannot see a specific reason why they'd post things like that on here without confronting the organization directly. A lot of what you've said is correct. However, I think you're forgetting that an entirely new team (in fact, multiple new teams) had been brought in to correct the ship. And while it still hasn't been smooth sailing, much of what they had done until this latest "scandal" has all seemed to be in good faith and "class up" the organization and provide a better experience for the members. That's a stretch of a statement given a lot of people who were affiliated with Cadets at that time are no longer there. But hey, dredging up mitigated situations is always a great idea. And speaking of money "problems," I'm always curious about how many people on here actually donate to these corps.
  15. But if there are people within that drum corps who are willing to answer those questions, I personally would go to that source first.
  16. You nailed it. These are exactly the points I was trying to get across. You've done a much better job than I did.
  17. Yeah I'm sure they were trying to put the corps in a position to survive as well as to move on from the circumstances at that time.
  18. Are these problems considered dirty laundry? Are they problems that were caused directly by the organizations actions (or lack thereof)? Did the pandemic contribute to their inability to meet costs? Were there other factors in play?
  19. I completely agree with the idea that if no other avenues have worked, then try another one. It's the same way things (mostly) work in the Navy. I am not here to "tell anyone how to report things" that have happened to THEM. That should rightfully left up to the victim.
  20. I don't mind the mods closing it if it dissolves into anything else.
