  1. Am looking forward to seeing you. I thought your guard was competing. I went over the Mid-York shows and don't see you in any. Aew you coming out last year,
  2. I watched prelims and didn't agree with placements. Watched finals and thought Cabs over Hurcs but the rest were where I would have put them. Some good performances from everyone. The lower finishing Corps don't have the program to be top 5. Corps in the middle are so good, but all have flaws. Top 5 are fairly strong in every area and thats what it takes.
  3. No I am saying Fusion wins Class a Prelims on Saturday and beats a couple of Open Corps. The way I understand it, that makes them voting members. They still compete. as Class "A" in finals, but get beat by Grens for Championship. That means the 2nd place "A" is a voting memebr. I don't see anything wrong with the rule the way it is. Just binging this up for fun, because it could happen. But maybe I misunderstamnd the rule.
  4. Just for fun, I see it this way. Fusion wins "A" prelims and beats a couple of Open Corps along the way. That makes them a voting member of DCA the way I understand it. Grenadiers win Class A finals. Now that would give us a whole season to write and comment. Everyone have a great DCA.
  5. My first show of the year. To Twenthieth century and Muchachoes a very good job. Both horn lines played controled with music that was fun and they could handle. Both were supportd by some good percussionespecially Twentieth Century. Guard need some work in numbers and rep but overall nice Corps. Many wondered why Muchacho aren't in competition. A little more drill and they would do fine. Excelsior: Very young and immature Corps. They have a better visual program this year, but music book is way over their head. This Corps is better but have a few years to learn about DC yet. Not having a complete show is out of the question this time of year. Fusion. I did not follow their show theme , it was difficult for me. But after saying that let me say WOW> Horns, Drums and Guard put on that I believe to be the best Class A show I've have ever seen with the acception of maybe Alliance two years ago. The horns can produce with the big boys. Hurcs: Hurcs came out with conviction but it seems to come and go. I do like their Heaven sent idea but again had trouble tieing thier ideas. The guard is as adveretized. Easily a step above tonight. Horns have their moments but seem to have trouble plaing on the mover. Strong percussion but didn't think they had a strong night. Bush: Bush is a great Corps for being original. Their Voodoo idea is well acted by their guard. Horns, I think I counted 28 played well. Percussion sometimes rushed the vechical. Their numbers work against them but Bush stays true to their ideas every year and makes them work. This year will be no different. Love the stick preshow. Cabs: What a fun show. Horns and drums complement each other very well. Both seemed to be enjoying their performances. The Guard works hard but is often out of focus or does contribute. I thought they were 2nd but with 10 pts in guard I see where Hurcs came from. Love their little play or mocking of "the call to the bulls", fun fun. Statesmen are well rounded in all areas. No standing "O"s tonight in their performance but overall the winner. Love the hornline. They have attitude and precision. Percussion a little muddy tonight but exciting. Guard adds alot, if Technique improves they can take a big jump. Props have caused alot of talk this year. They are fun but Corps product can stand without them. Sorry I missed White Sabers: taking care of a friend with some problems. Well thats what this amatueur saw. DCA put on a great show in Kingston, Mr Gilly be proud of your organization.
  6. Anyone go to Troy, This show could be built because of city backing. Opps a day early. Thats what 2 days in the emergency room will do for you make you forget the day. Sorry>
  7. Statesmen 83.23 Hurcs 81.3 Vets 75.8 Grenidiers 75 White Sabers 62
  8. I'll Play Bucs 85.8 Cabs 83.20 Bush 78 Fusion 73.9
  9. The answer is really simple. Crusaders and Brigs. Put them into the equation and all the shows would have 5 corps. Without White Sabers Rochester is 4 hours from the Closes Corps which would probably be Albany. Hopefully they, one or both of them can come out next year. DCA has expanded and each area has to do what they can. It cost Hawthorne or Statesmen 10+ thousand to do each others shows., They switch shows every few year, but it hard to afford that every year. Do you really think Statesmen sell $10000+ worth of tickets for the Clifton show, or Cabs $10000+ for the Rochester show. Corps today help each other more than people know, but they have to becareful scheduling. Anyway great show Statesmen.
  10. Some people have way to much time on their hands.
  11. Texas needs a small drum corps circuit with its own rules. This would give small start up groups a place to perform. I'm sure if asked DCA would give advice. Peashey, Pronti and Glenn always watch these threads and always seem willing to hlep. If the circuit could come up with 3 to 5 shows during the spring and summer this could help these start groups grow. If the shows attracted and the Corps suceeded, this circuit and corps could easily be DCA affilliated. The DCA championship is not for every Corps. I could very easily see a Corps compete one year at Championships and stay in their own circuit the next year. There is nothing wrong with this. The biggies do what is necessary for their success.
  12. Lets think for a minute. We are in a stadium and no corps on the field and no announcement. In the distance a bugle sounds. The crowd listens and after two notes are on their feet. What Corps could do that today? The Cabs are: two notes of Call to the Bulls and the crowd is on their feet Do your thing Cabs. Bucs raised the bar that is good for DCA. Sure people want to see a new winner, I thought Minn had a crack last year, then I saw the Bucs performance. It was a pleasure to watch. The way I understand judging is you could play the same tunes every year and the judges are to judge what is on the field. Taste is something a judge can't bering to the table. If he can't fight his own likes he shouldn't be judging. Fans are allowed to like what they like. I have seen Bush when I wanted to get a hot dog and I have seen them when I wished their show didn't end, like last year. No they didn't win, I didn't think they were going to but the show was so much fun. Now back on thead: CABS DO YOUR THING!!!!!
  13. Most of us who come online here are fans of one Corps or another. Some are just plain Drum Corps fans. Either way, please keep writting reviews, don't let thin skinned people bother you. To be honest I read them all every week and after reading them all I find that they usually do match what the Corps does. So for us fans who only make two or three shows a year in one section of of the country or other Please keep telling your OPIONS!!!
  14. Can anyone confirm this is going to be a DCA show??? That area would be a great place for a show, but is this one a go or no. Tom? EX ?? anyone?
