  1. I have 3 really good seats for DCI East tomorrow night that I can't use due to an unexpected development; anyone interested? I live in Delaware county about 20 minutes from the Philadelphia airport. We can communicate by cell phone if interested
  2. We have a winner! Look at the current 1st and 2nd place corps to illustrate your point. Your question explains why we have a growing number of so called "BD Haters."
  3. OK, so the Blue Devils should get more credit regarding simultaneous demand for park and blow?
  4. Simultaneous demand was definately not considered regarding the winner last night in Atlanta
  5. My money is on the Cadets; they are one hungry bunch for a championship and they have a great package this year
  6. I will be happy if DCI puts the camera in a location that captures the entire field. Am I the only one that was disgusted last weekend about the entire field not being in view? What was DCI thinking? Did they really think it would be OK to only show part of the field? Can you imagine watching a televised NFL game where you can not view the entire field? DCI really needs to get their act together if they are going to charge money for these webcasts!
  7. thanks for that post; could not agree more!
  8. you obviously don't and never did follow very closely if really believe that the Crossmen existed to fill holes for the Cadets
  9. Relax, it's his opinion...there are actually those that don't like Crown
  10. I like the way you think! The Cadets will be coming off of 5 rehearsal days and they will be real strong, however, their order of appearance Saturday night will hurt them; they got a real bad draw for this one. And you are right, it does depend on who's slotting, I mean judging, especially on the visual side. I am aware of at least one visual judge who has real bias for a certain corps from California that wins alot!
  11. Actually, I'm not thin-skinned; I would never have survived as a Cadets fan if I was. I just feel that the "gentle pokes," as you put it, are not necessary to defend your corps
  12. It statements like these that turn me off when it comes to the Crown honks. You always have to take cheap shots at other corps in a attempt to defend your corps. You should really wait until crown gets one championship ring before taking shots at corps that have several championships under their belt. Crown is a miss for me this year, and they have been one of my favorite corps over the past 5 years. This year just doesn't hold my interest; rock and roll is a tough genre for a drum corps to pull off.
  13. just a few observations from last night a the movies: - thanks DCI for having me rush to the theatre to sit for almost an hour and listen to audio from 2010 corps;I could have done that at home for free! And then, when I thought we were finally going to see the show, I had to sit through previews - sound was horrible - the commentators really get annoying with their opinions - Blue Devils: yikes; is this the best a corps of this caliber can come up with? yes, there were more melodies than last year, however, tacky melodies just don't hold my interest. They do run from park-n-blow section to park-n-blow section quite well. I can honestly say that I was totally bored by the time they finished their show - Cavaliers: usually really like them; not so much this year. Very good corps; just something missing. Show seems sort of like a rework of last years; very random stuff in this show that just didn't grab me like usual - Bluecoats: great drumline and brass; marching program seems like a step-up from last year. Interesting production; if they make the right moves, this could be a winner - Crown: great brassline, as usual; improved percussion. Rock theme is a big miss; just doesn't work. Feels like a symphony orchestra trying to be a rock band. A tough concept for a drum corps to pull off. I was dissapointed, first time I haven't liked Crown for a while - Cadets: really good corps with a great concept. Corps looks much better with the shakos; effect lost there. We all know they will work their collective tails off...could be a winner - Phantom: good corps; improved marching. rather boring - Santa Clara: drumline is really good! show has potential - Bluestars: is the effect with the ramp really worth all the effort? good solid corps; all sections perform really well. show is somewhat un-interesting to me
  14. This is an accurate statement; when you see the 2011 Cadets you will quickly realize why the above statement is correct!
  15. My wife and I spent the day with the Cadets this past Saturday. I can't predict how they will do competatively, however, this show will be liked by many and they will be really good. All reports from my friends in the corps indicate that they have a really special group of kids this year and they are having a blast! I am pumped to see how this season plays out for the Cadets; FHNSAB!
  16. Just returned from spending 3 days with the Cadets. This was the forth year in a row that I went out to Johnstown to be with the Cadets and this is by far the most excited I have been about what I saw! Really cool show with some great musical moments; brass seems very refined & mature for this early. This show has potential to be a great one! Please Cadets braintrust, don't screw this one up! Leave out the cheese and you have a potential winner. Just stay with what you have and tweak; the Cadets have the vehicle this year to take them places
  17. Yes, they do sound pretty strong! My wife and I are headed out to Johnstown in a couple of weeks to spend three days with the Cadets; can't wait!
  18. Probably one of the most well thought out shows in the history of this activity. I will never forget the day of finals that year. I was fortunate enough to spend finals day with the corps. You just had the feeling that your were witnessing something really special. This corps was special from top to bottom; all sections were extremely strong! And the drum speak...one of the most difficult things a drum section has ever attempted! The logistics and effort it took to make that work are amazing! After the last full run through that day, the staff and all spectators in attendance sat there laughing in amazement at what we just witnessed! The most amazing run through I have ever witnessed in almost 50 years of following this wonderful activity. 2005 Cadets were truly a gift that I will always remember!
  19. Think the Cadets are in a bit of denial on this one. Everything about the Jeffrey character was painful to watch... totally ruined a decent show. Not sure why anyone would want to own a piece of a trainwreck!
  20. I will say that after spending the day with the Cadets last Sunday, this hornline could be really special! They are very aggressive and powerful
  21. Got the Blu-ray for X-mas; quality is superb. You almost feel like you are there live. Blue Devils = WTF! I forgot how much I disliked this show when I saw it at DCI East. Cavaliers should have won (cool show and all the members really sold the concept), Bluecoats should have been second (need stronger marching program), Crown should have been third (great brass, great music; they remind me of the Cadets more than the Cadets do), I guess Blue Devils should have been fourth(on talent level only; yuck!), I would have been fine with Cadets or Phantom in fifth. Cadets were very bland with no real excitement, and I won't even get started on Jeffrey. What has happened to the Cadets; they need to make some major changes if they want to stay in the elite top 5 in DCI.
  22. I'm not against voice or any new element in a drum corps show, however, the Cadets recent history is one of overdone and/or tacky/cheesy. My excitement level for the 2011 Cadets has just gone way down
  23. I think this music will work just fine for the Cadets. The Cadets typically have some of the best music in DCI and I think this year will follow suit. What concerns me is the stuff the Cadets have been doing recently that detracts from an otherwise strong musical presentation.
  24. I do think some are reading way to much into the $25.00 thing. I'm of the opinion that the sole motivation behind this is that they need members. And I'm of the opinion that the Cadets struggle to get members because of some of their programming choices lately, plain and simple. Please Cadets, stop with the silly character-based shows, I really want love your shows again!
