No Lucas Oil in '09 right? I thought that was one of ten years that it wasn't going to be at Lucas Oil. -

RCA DOME spells DOOM for DCI
Discombobulato replied to kyushujet's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Wasn't Lucas Oil Stadium designed around having good acoustics for DCI? I'm sure I read somewhere that if DCI wasn't going to be there, there wouldn't be a retractable roof for Lucas Oil, so I'm assuming that they're designing it so acoustics sound really good. I'm not worried about it even if the roof is shut, I'm sure it will still sound amazing and the least dome-like of all. The other domes weren't built for good acoustics if I'm not mistaken, they where just built for football, I'm confident about this stadium. -
Drum corps is definitely a sport I think, BUT I don't think its nearly the hardest. It's definitely harder than most high school teams, or even college sports teams, but I don't think that its harder than say the NFL for example. They don't have a routine during a game, they have to develope strategies real time and, I know you shouldn't in drum corps, but they definitely can't go through the motions. They're in better shape too I think, I mean.... just look at them. It doesn't have as much stress either, because obviously drum corps fills up less than half of a stadium for finals, when big NFL or even college games fill up the entire stadium, and you're there in front of everybody. If you mess up, everyone will see it happen, not to mention that it's also on television a lot of the times. Mentally and physically I think there are many harder sports than drum corps, not to say DCI isn't hard, because it's the hardest thing I've ever done.

Visiting camps...

Well, if you divide six by 3hree, you get 2. What's that mean, second place? I don't know! -

SCV Camp Report

I wouldn't make any judgments on the trumpets, or hornline's tone, the recording itself sounds kinda iffy. -
Visiting camps...

Generally I've noticed that its not advertised where they're practicing, or when so it can be somewhat difficult, but sometimes it is. The Blue Devils generally practice at Diablo Valley College, and I think on their website I've seen them post camp dates, but for corps like SCV I haven't seen dates or locations (they might have an usual place to go too, idk). Then again, I haven't looked very hard either. For Mandarins its posted on the public section of the website, usually under audition information. The past camps there has been performances at the end. -
It is a lot easier to make discussion about something bad and controversial rather than something good (unless its really good, then it'll get a little more discussion). Arguments are what (from what I've seen) keeps a forum thriving. It would be a lot nicer if people could always be respectful to eachother (which I have been seeing more of lately), but I think its the sad truth of forums. It's also harder to be positive when there's not too much going on in the drum corps activity as of now (obviously more than September, but still...). Many people on the forums disagree with the rule changes, and thats been the biggest thing on the forums lately other than smaller things like the countdown and all that.

As I've been told, "if someone knows you are marching with us, you are representing the entire corps." Obviously everyone has a different opinion, and with the nature of forums people will repeatedly be disrespectful and voice there opinion like its the only one that matters and is right, and thats where most of the problems start. Now, where I'll have to disagree with you is the fact that one person shouldn't change peoples view on the entire corps, because obviously get 150 people together and there will be many different personalities, but unfortunately people do change their view based on one member's actions. That's my perfect world, but that's not reality. You're right, members, plural, are the corps, but one person shouldn't be enough to make that kind of difference. I'm having trouble explaining this, possibly because I'm tired, by the way. I know the corps I have and am marching with prefers we don't post on DCP, but doesn't have a rule written in stone about it, which is the reason why I rarely try and say anything controversial. I'm mainly just a reader, and when I come across things I think I won't be able to handle with respect and maturity, I'll leave it be. Sometimes there's holes in what I say, or misunderstandings because I lacked clarity, so there's more reasons. Oh, and by the way, those who are reading this and don't know what CMM is, its current marching member or some variation of it, I guessed what it was when I saw the topic title.

Drum Corps Survivor 2007-2008 - Round 6
Discombobulato replied to PhantomR's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
People aren't looking at the poll results before they vote, so they end up wasting their immunity vote. We know PR's not gonna get eliminated based on results, so that would be 32 more votes elsewhere for immunity. -

Don't vote for immunity if the corps has the least votes to be eliminated, otherwise its a wasted vote. Vote for a corps you think might get eliminated that you would least like to have. -

I'm sad to see Cavies getting so many votes, I'm surprised. I really loved their show last year, but I do have to say it took a while to grow onto me.
