  1. Of course not, that would take you through Rosemont.
  2. Welcome. I only know because I auditioned for the Scouts this year and had a layover in Chicago.
  3. Rockford's central. Not too horribly far from Chicago.
  4. Great Uni's! I would have made them a shade or two darker, and would love to see a red or white cord on the right shoulder, but I really do love these. Good luck Scouts!
  5. Geez, I hope no tuba or trumpet players want to march Madison, then.
  6. Depending on where you live, it may be cheaper to check out Myrtle Beach. The price you got isn't bad though. It cost me around $350 out of MB( I live in SE NC) to fly to Madison for Scouts auditions, on the Friday after Thanksgiving even.
  7. If the Scouts ever use electronic instruments or something more, I won't march junior corps. I feel like they would be one of the last to anyway.
  8. He did, I remember him from the audition camp. Oh, and to understand what Madison style means, you'd have to attend a camp.
  9. Call me crazy, but those are two of my favorite shows. ...and weren't the Scouts famous for their rifle lines long before 2002?
  10. I think he loved corps so much that he wanted to continue directing, even if DCI wasn't his kind of organization anymore. Again, strictly my opinion.
  11. Both have good, valid, points. It is all about whether you want drum corps to be big and popular or if you like it cozy.(IMO) I don't know how he would feel, but i think the best job on earth for George Hopkins would be with BOA or a very similar organization, or perhaps a larger part of DCI. He's all about sharing the wealth. Everybody's a part. Not a bad thing, but not necessarily what drum corps is/needs. Music education in general needs someone like him. Scott Stewart on the other hand, Is all about taking the kids and showing them a good time and making them better people through what HE knows. He's not concerned with how many kids he teaches, he just wants to let those who may be similar-minded, have the experience of a lifetime. He's perfect to be a corps director, but I wouldn't place him in a higher position. Drum corps need someone like him, to give those who think like him, a place to go. Just my opinion.
