  1. I voted no, but then the poll made me pick a number to increase it to :( 21 seems to work, and even if we are bigger this year, I doubt everyone will be able to make every single performance we do, so numbers will "hopefully" work themselves out
  2. Hope I will have some thoughts on this topic in another year or two :)
  3. Why need a junior division? I know it's all-age, but nothing says you can't restrict the age of your group does it?
  4. Well there's a few families that have contacted us, husband/wife, father/son, aunts/uncles.. lol we'll probably be able to say yes
  5. Looking forward to being there! We are hoping to debut at the Texas Drum Corps Preview, and follow it up with a performance at Brass Hysteria... A Screaming good time!
  6. Glad to hear its coming back together as well! Since you guys are pratically our neighbors, love to see you perform ASAP!
  7. Thanks for the support. Almost ready to announce our 2008 Mini-corps show, right now we are focusing on spreading the word about SCREAMING CHRISTMAS!!! So if you don't have a rehearsal that weekend, come on down and enjoy a tropical christmas celebration with corps members, alumni, and future corps members from all over
  8. Awesome show guys! Looking forward to seeing it live this summer
  9. well, there are more DCA Southern corps popping up all the time.... Rockport, TX
  10. Our Music Coordinator is working on charts, but not 100% ready to announce yet. We will be doing a mini-corps show this year, and possibly *fingers crossed* attending DCA I&E. Otherwise we will be at any DCA show in TX we can get into!
  11. The Scream Machine, The City of Rockport and the Frontier Performing Arts Association is pleased to announce the inaugural “Screaming Christmas.” This event is scheduled for November 30-December 2, 2007. It is a joint venture hosted by the City of Rockport, TX and sponsored by The Scream Machine Drum & Bugle Corps and Frontier Performing Arts Association. This event will bring drum & bugle corps to the Corpus Christi, TX area, and attention to two new drum corps projects in South Texas. The Scream Machine, a new DCA corps based in Rockport, TX and Texas Kingsmen, a DCI corps, based in Kingsville, TX. are both seeking marching members and will be on hand to speak to new recruits. Members of all drum corps and marching bands are encouraged to come join the celebration and be a part of an annual event. No drum corps experience is necessary. Screaming Christmas is a tropical holiday celebration bringing members of different pageantry arts to perform en masse and celebrate Christmas Texas-style - loud, intense, and screaming. There will be food, music and guard performances, master clinics, drum corps videos and, of course, drum corps camaraderie! The weekend will include master classes, audition opportunities, and representatives from Texas drum corps on hand to answer questions and help performers join their respective corps. For a nominal $40 fee, housing, food, and event T-shirt will be provided. Rehearsals and master classes will go on throughout the weekend preparing the mass corps for a concert and parade. Those attending the event are encouraged to bring either G bugles or Bb marching instruments of your choice. Limited instruments will be available for rental over the weekend. For full details and registration information see the event website ScreamingChristmas.com. Van and carpooling options from several cities in TX and LA will be available. Free shuttles from Corpus Christi Airport will also be provided with registration. Clinicians will be announced in the coming weeks. To find out how you can win two free airline tickets to this event, contact Frontier Drum and Bugle Corps at info@frontiercorps.org.

  14. Formal Press Releases should be up and running later this week, but since so many of you have sent well wishes our way, we decided to share a little of the info here with you. 1. We are kicking things off as a mini-corps for 2008. First rehearsal as a corps will be in January 2008 in Rockport, TX. 2. Musical Director, Brass and Percussion Arrangers and some instructors are in place 3. Corps Director is almost in place, hopefully we’ll have all that settled this week and can make some announcements 4. We are working with several organizations out there to make sure we are doing this thing right, big thank yous to FPAA who bought our domain, and got a webpage set-up, as well as helping us get talking to the right folks and getting the name out there 5. The City of Rockport is rolling out the red carpet. They are interested in hosting a DCA show in the near future, how near is to be determined 6. We are kicking things off with a BIG BIG event called Screaming Christmas. Our friends at FPAA are sponsoring the event alongside the City of Rockport, and we are planning to take full advantage of the event to get The Scream Machine name out in the community as much as possible. This event is open to current marching members, alumni, as well as band folk who would like a piece of the drum corps experience (including auditioning for several corps at once over the weekend). Registration is open and includes food, housing, in-town transportation, instruction, and performances at the Tropical Christmas event in Rockport for only $40. It’s the first weekend in December, so if you don’t have a corps rehearsal, come down and kick off the holiday’s drum corps style! 7. Music for our 2008 production is being finalized and will be announced soon. We are excited to be doing something we thing the general public will thoroughly enjoy, as well as you fans of that fun thing called ‘melody’. Should be a fun show for a first year corps. 8. We will hold rehearsals about once a month (may add a little more as local gigs come up), and will keep this thing as cheap and low pressure as possible, while maximizing our time in performance. We will do what it takes to make sure we are prepared for summer of performances. 9. Performances locally are bountiful for summer of 08, looks like we’ll get to play for lots of folks, and we are excited. We are looking at attending the standard drum corps stuff in TX if we can/are invited – Texas Drum Corps Preview (Austin Stars), Brass Hysteria (Frontier), and Brass on the Bayou (Gulf Coast Sound), as well as a possible trip to DCA in 08 for the Mini-Corps Championships. Decisions about the summer will be made in a few months, once we get some folks playing some music and see what we want to do. 10. We’ve been busy behind the scenes, it takes a lot of work to get this stuff rolling, and we want to thank EVERYONE who has done ANYTHING to help us. A Brand new webpage (same link) is coming soon as well thanks to our Musical Director. so... SIGN UP for SCREAMING CHRISTMAS, and if you are in the South Texas area and looking to participate in a mini-corps/stage show type situation that will hopefully grow into the next best DCA corps out there, then stop by our webpage and come on down in January to check us out, or in December to kick off the holiday season drum corps style!
  15. Love the positive/constructive vibe ;) Anyway, what's truly TRULY important, is that the people involved in this project in Rockport, LOVE the idea... the marketing gears are heavily turning, and everyone is really excited to get this thing rolling. Some will love it, some will hate it... just like with any other name out there Personally, I don't care if we called ourselves 'The Drum Corps" as long as we rocked out with cool music, cool atmosphere, and had lots of fun and friendships in the process. Moderators, feel free to close this thread since the purpose was to find a name.. and now...we have Big announcements coming June 1.
  16. Name Chosen... New website is up, and the domain should be resolving in the next 24 hours Can still view us through the old link: http://www.freewebs.com/rockportdrumcorps/
