It was probably a mix between the crowd going nuts and the energy running through everyone's vains.
Aside: Unless I'm mistaken, that was the second to last time Santa Clara would perform Bottle Dance. They would do it once more in 1992 for their Fiddler on the Roof show.
I know Scott Johnson marched when the Devils won their first title in '76 and is an instructor now. I don't know if he's jumped from corps to corps or started teaching percussion recently, though.
Active:
The Cavaliers "Standing Man"
The Santa Clara Vanguard shield and bugle
Phantom Regiment chevrons
Inactive:
The Kingsmen coat of arms
The Bridgemen lightning bolt
27th Lancers
Ah, alright.
Sorry if I seemed smug. I know I wasn't around for that but...I'm a Washingtonian through and through so...I had to pipe up. :)
Anyway...horray for Franklin Field! '75 and '76 were great drum corps years.
I'm sorry...I just can't get on board with the woodwind thing.
If that makes me a bitter, caveman; then so be it. I perfer my drum corps with just brass, percussion, and guard.
