  3. Dear Members, Alumni, Friends and Fans of High Country Brass and 5280 Brass Band: As President of the High Country Performing Arts Association Board of Directors, it is with deepest regrets that I announce that the Board has voted to close HCPAA and all of it operations. HCPAA is the parent organization of High Country Brass Drum and Bugle Corps and 5280 Brass Band. Be assured that we did not arrive at this decision lightly, but considered and explored many other possibilities, before making this final decision. With rising costs and ever decreasing membership numbers, the Board of Directors feels that it is fiscally responsible to cease operations now before the organization can no longer meet its financial responsibilities. High Country Brass was formed in 2004 by a small group of dedicated drum and bugle corps fans. Over the years, HCB grew to be a competitive Drum Corps Associates Class A corps. In addition to performing locally at Drums Along the Rockies nearly every year, the Corps traveled for competitions in Denton, Texas; St. Paul and St. Peter, Minnesota three times; and to DCA finals four times (once in Annapolis, Maryland, and three times in Rochester, New York). At its peak in 2013, HCB fielded a Corps of more than 50 members, and earned our highest score ever in DCA Class A competition. Created in 2014 as a small performing ensemble consisting of current members and alumni of HCB, 5280 Brass band offered a local and affordable alternative to the full Drum Corps experience. During its short tenure, 5280 performed for the Colorado Outlaws Lacrosse, the Brass Band Festival in Parker, and the Wild Bill reenactment show at the Buffalo Bills days in Golden. Over the past years, the HCPAA organization has brought together musicians and performers from all walks of life, creating long lasting friendships and performing for local and distant audiences alike. Thank you to everyone who has ever been involved with High Country Brass and 5280 Brass, including our musician and performing members, talented staff, volunteers, generous family and friends, and of course, our audience members. We could not have made it as far as we did without you. HCPAA will begin immediately to take the necessary steps to dissolve the organization. All remaining assets will be distributed to a similar qualified 501©(3) as required by the by-laws of HCPAA, the state of Colorado, and the Internal Revenue Service. Our current assets include drum and bugle corps equipment, including “G” bugles, marching drums, percussion instruments, color guard uniforms and equipment, marching uniforms, and other drum corps equipment, including the HCB trailer. A complete list of equipment is available. If you are interested in purchasing any or all of our equipment, or if you are an authorized representative of a similar eligible 501©(3) organization and are in need of any equipment, please contact me via email at equipment@highcountrybrass.org by June 30th, 2015. Sincerely, David Truax President Board of Directors
  4. I have 2 contras for sale that we no longer use. 4 Valve Dynasty SuperMag. This was Purchased from the Troopers in 07 when they were selling off their Bugles. Great playing horn, just too heavy for any of our players to carry anymore. Hasn't been played for about 3 seasons. Includes padded gig bag. Has a few dings and dents from over the years but no broken braces or major damage. Does have a repair to the lead pipe connector due to a careless member that tried to move the leadpipe without loosening the clamp first. I do not have a current picture but can get one if needed (stored about an hour from my house so would take a few days or so to get to it for pics.) Asking $1800 plus shipping. Local Denver pickup would be awesome for everyone. We also have a DEG 2 valve chrome Contra for sale. In good condition, no gigbag or case. Has not been played for 5-6 seasons due to musicality requirements for 3 valves. Unsure of origins. Asking $800 plus shipping. Again local Denver pickup would save time and money. We do have a set of 5 Premier Timpani's for sale as well, but these are strictly local pickup. Sizes are 23", 26", 29", 31" and 33". All include covers and most have an extra head. Asking $2000 for full set.

  8. I have 2 Kanstul 3 valve Silver Sopranos for sale. First one- SOLD!!!!!!! Very good condition, no major dents or damage. Some waviness (possible repair) on bell flare by valves. Finish is near perfect, no signs of wear. All slides and valves are smooth and move freely. Just professionally cleaned. Includes a Pro-tec hard case. No mouthpiece. Not a Powerbore. Has Emerald Knights engraved on the side of the bell. Asking $400 plus shipping. Second - SOLD!!!!!! Very good condition, recent professional repair of dents and replaced leadpipe with brand new from Kanstul. Very good finish. Was cleaned at the same times as repair. Missing set screw on spring loaded tuning slide. All slides and valves move freely and smoothly. Has a dynasty hard sided case. No mouthpiece, not a powerbore. SOLD!!!!!! Also have a dynasty 2 valve chrome soprano. This is in rough shape. Missing the second valve cap, some dents, some corrosion in the chrome. Still plays well. Valves and slides move freely. Includes hard case. Asking $75 plus shipping. Finally, I have a Valve Rotor Olds Duratone Mellophone, this is the matte finished model. In very good shape. Finish is great, valve and rotor move freely, slides are smooth. Includes hard case. Asking $200 plus shipping. I can email pictures if needed, can't post on here. These horns all are from my personal collection. I never play them, so time to clean house. Message me on here and I will get back to you ASAP.
  9. Thanks, the horn is on it's way to you now!
  10. Here are pics of the horns. Both are still available. Dynasty http://www.flickr.com/photos/11848612@N07/7403962792 Kanstul www.flickr.com/photos/11848612@N07/7403988588
  11. High Country Brass has decided to sell their 2 G Euphoniums. Both are 3 valve horns. I personally have marched both these horns over the years and both play fantastic. They have not been used in the last 3 seasons. We have decided to use and purchase more baritones instead of euphs. First is the Kanstul. This is an older horn, that has some wear around the valve casing and some of the inner tubes where hands and arms have touched it over the years. The Bell has been repaired as it had some wrinkles in it when we originally got it in 07. Still plays great. The serial number is no longer visible on the valve casing, but I contacted Kanstul and they believe it was originally built either for the European market or as a prototype prior to DCI switching to 3 Valves. This was based on the makers markings on the bell. Includes the hard case. No Mouthpiece. Asking $350 plus shipping unless you come to Denver to pickup. Dynasty- This is one beautiful long Euph. It is in incredibly good shape, only minor wear and a few scratches on the side of some of the long tubes. No wrinkles in the bell or major dents on it. Slides and valves all work great. Includes a nice hard case, no mouthpiece. Asking $450 plus shipping unless you come to Denver to pickup. Please PM me for details. I can get pics, may take a day or 2 to get to the storage facility to take pics so please be patient.
