  1. THEN THE BOTTOM 5 IN OPEN SHOULD JUST SYAY HOME?????
  2. My first year with the Kilties I was told to bring a pair of black dress pants for cold weather parades. Carried them around in my bag till I realized We're Kilties,we don't wear no stinking pants.
  3. Brigs, always enjoyed their shows,Renegades cause they came out swinging hard. And my all time favorite Kilties
  4. That would be from the Barber of Seville. Welcome to my shop let me cut your mop ...Daintly Go get em, My Brothers and sisters in Plaid
  5. I thought it was where Ream goes others follow. If I got you looking well....... All in fun Bro in name, all in fun.
  6. They all have,as I stated 2 shows and and a week of practice to tighten up. guard just put in a bunch of new work the previous day. All in all I thought they did good.
  7. Govies, have always enjoyed this Corps. They aren't afraid of taking songs like "Hot for teacher"and putting it out on the field. That being said, I don't know if it was the chart or whatever, it seemed to me that hornline struggled a bit with Hot for teacher, and it seemed kind of muddled. Guard as always with the Govies doing big time work. Drums, sorry but I'm not a drum guy so I really can't comment. Overall a very enjoyable show. A show that could once again get them into the Big Dance. Kilties As with Bob I am biased, being part of the Corps for many years. It was my first viewing of the Kilties this year. I was a bit afraid of all the hype about the corps, I had been hearing. Are they that good? Am I gonna be dissapointed,Wowed,or what? From the moment they stepped on to the field with the strains of Syne I knew It was WOW time for me. One fact that has been haunting the Kilties for years is that they can't march well while playing. Well folks I am here to tell you,It's true no longer. This corps marches as well as they big guys. The hornline sounded everybit as good as Brass tonight. 18 in the guard and as Bob stated I am a bit confused as to why they got dumped on. Oh well I'm a horn guy. Drums smaller and a lot younger line this year but they play a good book. And they move around a bunch, fast and more faster.. This years show is timing changes and a lot of them thoughout. The corps has 2 more show's and another week of practice to tighten things up. Sidenote: Mr. Ream: this year, watch and listen for all the timing changes. Get that hot dog out of your mouth and put down the beer and really watch them.HEH... Brass Exellant show, more movement than I have seen them do in awhile. That is with the exception of Mr. Grupp.Man if I had his drill I'd never retire. But I'm sure he's tired of hearing that one. He's One of the all time Great horn players in the history of Drum Corps 1st time read-it looks great, looks big and it is definately preformed to generate a monster at Finals. They can only get better. Go get em Brass!!! I almost forgot to add that The Kilties proved that with great promotion a show with only three Corps can be sold out. They brought in other enjoyable acts and made it work. They made a True Family Night. ALL FOR ONLY $10.00, with the little ones getting in for free
  8. The 3 shows the Kilties had in the Midwest were DCA judged. They were within 5 to 7 points of Brass in those shows. That would have put them right in the Night show in about 9th place. Alas the scores didn't follow thru to the East. Pretty darn good for ....... as you say an almost Alumni corps. Speaking for myself and not on the behalf of the Kilties
  9. There does not seem to be a size limit for a corps in SDCA Going to The Drums in the North, this afternoon. I'll try to get a review in tonight. I got this from their site: OVERALL This is a people's choice competitive association, and, since all performing corps receive an equal share of the ticket proceeds, it is essential that the corps' program be appealing to the general audience. These guidelines are meant to provide direction and are not intended to limit the performance opportunity of its members. CORPS PERFORMANCE: (clarified 12/14/08) Horns: In an arena drum corps show 30 playing horns is ideal; when using more horn players please consider the accoustics. A minimum of 10 horns is preferred. Guard members are not limited in number. Equipment protection is required. Percussionists: accoustics should be considered. MUSIC PERFORMANCE: The music that is to be played shall be recognizable tunes. A flag presentation is suggested. MARCHING PERFORMANCE: It is preferred that the corps be in motion, however a standstill with or with out a performing color guard is acceptable. There will not be a pit as there is no front field defined, but, this does not exclude any instruments in the performance. When the American flag is used it shall be done with respect. The American flag can be posted for most of the performance. All instruments are to be carried or wheeled on. Wheeled equipment must have inflatable tires or floor protection. Playing time: 9 to 13 minutes Corps are to wear shoes that will not mar or scuff the floor or socks. It is possible that the performance would be to a 360 degree audience.( this consideration is to maximize the ticket sales in the arena setting ) Drill in the arena will be from the 35 yard line to the 35 yard line with a 50 foot depth. When needed or desired the performance may be on a football field.
  10. Any one done by Chris Ferrara,Chicago Royalaires. He was 12,13 at the time.
  11. I remember when Cozy had to fly in for a show.He had very limited time to make the flight and then make it to the show site. So he figured he would wear his full Battle dress on the plane. Needless to say he had quite abit of splaining to do showing up at the check-in a Kilt and a horn and not much else. This Held the plane up and almost got him locked up in a back room at the airport. Lord I wish He was here to tell the whole story.
  12. Cozy had the most infuriating way of being in the wrong place in the drill at any given time. But he always had a interesting story of why he was at that place at that particular moment. Rest in peace My Brother. Should auld acquaintance be forgot, And never brought to mind ? Should auld acquaintance be forgot, And days o' lang syne ? For auld lang syne, my jo, For auld lang syne, We’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet, For auld lang syne. And surely ye’ll be your pint-stowp ! And surely I’ll be mine ! And we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet, For auld lang syne. We twa hae run about the braes, And pu’d the gowans fine ; But we’ve wander’d mony a weary foot, Sin auld lang syne. We twa hae paidl’d i' the burn, Frae morning sun till dine ; But seas between us braid hae roar’d Sin auld lang syne. And there’s a hand, my trusty fiere ! And gie's a hand o’ thine ! And we’ll tak a right gude-willy waught, For auld lang syne.
  13. JC, It's been an Honor to march with you all these many years. WWBD!
  14. Hey Pachuco,My Brother From the guy that made the tape,HEH. Going back this year to get another patch.
  15. Take one, all wool kilt add the rains we had in 2006 and by the time you're done with your show it feels like you've gained 20#.
  16. I for one wasn't hoping to see that happen. Just saying it could happen.
  17. Renegades! The top ten has to lose somebody.......Do the 'gades bounce Kilties or Cru?......... Do the 'gades make the 6-7-8 trio a quartet? Do the 'gades make one of the fJ our corps looking for second place "settle" for SIXTH? Joe D in NJ Or are they having a down year? Don't get me wrong,I truly like the Renegades. But to not even consider the fact is kind of Presumptious. No???? There are corps that are scoring better than them and to automatically place them as high as 6th over said corps well I hope you see what I mean. And whatever may fall you hit it on the head Joe,what a great year it has and will end up being.
  18. Someone said the Kilties had a 1 pt. penalty last night. With a 82.8 even with a penalty they are solidly in the thick of things.
  19. The Minn. show started at 6:00 central should be wrapped up by 8:00 GO KILTIES !!!!!!
  20. I can think of one corps that did the PR thing to a T. And pretty much on their own. The Renegades had so much hype their first year out, people had them making finals before the Corps ever took one step on the field. My hat is off to them. They did the talk and the walk and made it happen. DCA can only do what it can afford, both in time and money. and for any organization(DCA) to have come this far and lasted this long is amazing.
  21. The Midwestcorps have a show going on at this very moment in Racine. Can't wait to see the scores. And yes it would be way cool to see the Kilties make finals. It's been a little to long since the last time.
  22. Guap you and John should get together and march the route by yourselves. You could call yourselves Tremendous BS :P Have fun guys. One of these years I'll be able to make it. Miss your face Guapo
