  1. The Brewfest keeps getting bigger and better every year!!!!!
  2. Totally uncalled for accusation. The corps had a good progressive year up till Prelims. They had a bad show at the wrong time. This does not mean their whole program is crap.It only means they had a bad show.
  3. How cool would it be to have the Kilties and Cabs at the same gig!!!!
  4. It was 68 for Hall of the Mountain King. I was at a show where 4 corps played it. 3 of them had the same arraingement. The Menominee Northernaires had it first in 67.
  5. If I'm not mistaken, a while back Minnesota brass was selling their first set of Bbs after only having them a short time.
  6. Kanstul has the tooling for G-horns ,correct me if I'm wrong but it doesn't cost to keep it. . They get an order they fill it.
  7. Twas the year of our lord 1998,Twas the great norwester. We were issued some emergency rain ponchos at the begining of the parade. When we came to a halt right before the reviewing stand to a Man we said "No ponchos for us. For we are Manly Men." We took off the the skins and proceeded around the corner. Brave and True we were! We rounded the corner and got hit full blast with that wicked wind right off the water. The rest was a blur, and to all a bit sketchy. But none were lost and all had fun.
  8. Derek, You are correct about the guard issues. On the other point of the whole corps walking around whinning about the judges, you could not be more offbase. You talked to 1 member. The overall feeling of the corps after the show was that we did what we did. We threw it down and if our show was good enough to make it was good enough to make it, No more,no less. To say we weren't dissappointed that we missed out would be a lie.But we realized that YES Virginia, there were 10 other corps that went out and did better than us. The corps as a whole has a totally different attitude since last you marched with us. It is an Attitude that Nobody Hands you Anything, That we have to work smarter and as one entity go out and throw it down. As for the reference to the Fiasco thread, I read about 1/2 of it. All I saw were valid points and not anything about getting screwed. If in the pages I did not read there were references to bad judging or whatever it is the thoughts of one or two people, not the corps.
  9. Bill always made sure everyone who wanted any tape,he had made, got one. Bill will be missed by all who had the Honor of meeting him. As my Kiltie Brother Moon Stated, Plaid Tears for my friend. Bill is probably at this very moment, Jamming with Pepi and the rest of the gang.
  10. Whatever the numbers it's going to be "One Heck of a Show"
  11. I have the same tattoo as seen below,on my other arm
  12. Well done JC. I am honored to be able to call you my Kiltie Brother.
  13. Memorial Day already. Come on, Kilt Up! You know you want to.
  14. Before this goes any farther. Donate to your favorite corps,as I do. Sponsor a member,if you can. Kick in for gas or what ever. Sew some uni, flags Cook some meals, drive a bus. Don't bother asking about accountabilty on any bodies part you'll only get blasted for it. Just give. peace in our time
  15. I realize that stuff gets wore out. I realize corps have to replace things. I realize a corps has to replace things before they turn into to junk and lose resale value. I realize you can resell flags.I also realize not all used equipment get resold. I realize that volunteers/donations are the life blood of corps.God love em all and I truly mean that. I realize that even if it was 1 ,5,10 or 25 years ago, it's the same principles guiding how things are done, you don't spend what you don't have. And stay alive for long. The fundementals of running a corps never really change. You don't spend what you do not have. You might get by with it for a while but sooner or later it all catches up. I am not some big ogre who's is trying to discrecredit any drum corps.Stop trying to skew it that way. Nor am I someone who is ignorant of how Modern day drum corps are run.So do not try to peg me as either. I just stated I want my donation to go to a organization that is spending it's money wisely And for someone to state that "ALL Corps" spend wisely is ignorance on their part. I never stated do not donate. I never stated that ALL corps spend unwisley.
  16. Steph how dare you say I aint involved. or haven't been involved. I helped run a corps before you ever knew what a corps was.I know what getting by on a shoestring is today and was years ago. And yes I have spent time on a sewing machine blah blah blah.. My answer is completely valid. If you can get by with what you have you get by. You do not put yourself in deep finacial debt trying to keep up with the big boys. And you don't getnew toys just for the sake of getting new toys.Things wear out,and when they do replace them, that's a gimme. And you cannot tell me there are not corps out there that have killed themselves spending unwisely. That is what I base my answer on. My hat is off to all the volunteers in drum corps. And I know that in each and every corps fundraising is life support. But if I am being asked to donate then I want my money to used wisely. and that's is all I ask,or in this case posted.
  17. Is it wrong to ask that a recipient of a donation of mine or anyone elses,be finacially responsible? And before you jump. I do donate every year, and have helped sponsor several people, since 1980. To me it's a no brainer. New unis/flags/horns ect. or getting on the road? If you don't have the money to put gas in your tanks you aint getting down the road to wear/play.... them new unis, horns. Maybe the flags can last another year, maybe we can wear the same unis one more year. Not all corps get fantastic deals when obtaining their equipment. And even the ones that do have to shell out some kind of cash.
