  1. Hey, don't worry about it... There are many English teachers out there that don't know the first thing about music. You've got one up on them there, B)
  2. Hey, as long as you like Eric Whitacre's music, I don't care what ya like. :P :) (I... "kinda like" Whitacre's music...)
  3. Influenced by, stolen from, whatever... Zimmer has a power to his music and is very successful at his job. Write exciting music to make this movie not suck. I enjoy even his arrangement of Mars... er... I mean I enjoy the Gladiator soundtrack....
  4. http://www.playbillarts.com/news/article/4750.html Do you have the soundtrack? There's a bit that is almost identical.
  5. PS: Hans Zimmer was sued for "ripping off" Holst's Mars with his soundtrack to Gladiator.
  6. "A good composer does not imitate; he steals." -Igor Stravinsky
  7. To the corps vets that have a problem with this thread existing... I've noticed many times on this forum an attitude towards those who have not marched. Are drum corps fans not allowed to post on DCP? Am I missing something? The way I see it, fans of the art should be praised by you. The fans are what keep drum corps alive. If no one came to the shows, well... there might not be anymore shows. The 15 year old baritone player from the middle of nowhere might be on this site, a die hard fan... maybe he's going to turn into a drum corps member someday. This site can be a congregation for members and alumni, but for fans too, as it can be a breeding ground for future corps members and future funding for your art. It just bothers me... And that's my .02.
  8. Alright, being the loser that I am when it comes to drum corps knowledge... what is "the list?"
  9. Dang it, I JUST saw a video of a div I corps doing this piece on youtube, but now I can't find it. I don't think it was Boston though in this video, it was [i think] another corps playing through it. I just can't remember. But I do remember thinking... Can't do this piece without concert french horns. Nothing will ever compare to the choral version.
