  1. I am not a fan of the setup with the app and the British voiceover. They could get rid of it and just play the show and I would be fine with that.
  2. I really enjoy this Cadets show. One of their better shows in a long time. Of course, I'm a sucker for NYC themes and music.
  3. I really like the Cadets show. I love Kerouac and 50's era NYC and USA is a good setting. Hearing some jazz, which many corps avoid these days, was a pleasure.
  4. Belated Crossmen response because I'm a little behind... I was unsure of the show when I saw the Premiere, but as I see it more and their execution grows by leaps and bounds, I am liking it a lot. I actually had a few chills at the end. The corps seems well-balanced with no particular caption dominating others. All seem to be improving at the same pace.
  5. This experiment in having the show intermix its four parts into a different order each competition is interesting, but I wonder about its GE value. They have to make sure each of the parts has a highlight moment and I'm not sure they all do. Don't modern judges expect shows to have a natural progression or storyline? Also, it must put some pressure on the members to remember the order of each show. I remember getting into a rhythm and flow.
  6. The reaction around me was indifference. “You aren’t here” Who cares. A video means nothing.
  7. This is the most Fan-Friendly DCI “Finals” ever. The crowd was full for the “12th Place corps” (Phantom Regiment) because of crowd buzz and not because who the judges told us were “better” The last time I was here, the crowd wasn’t full for the 12th place corps. The people here love drum corps.
  8. It’s about Andy Warhol. The image they have up is a cartoon version of Warhol. At one point they bring out something reminiscent of his Brillo box.
  9. Just loved the Cavaliers. Top to bottom, this day has been the most entertaining drum corps experiences I’ve had in a long time. It’s been fun.
  10. This crowd may not be as big as people would like, but they bring the noise and appreciation for everything they are seeing.
  11. Phantom just blew the roof off. The crowd jumped to their feet at the end.
  12. From Indy…. Loved the ending of the Troopers show. Loved, loved, loved the entire Scouts show. I don’t know if Flo showed the crowd reaction to the corps’ introduction or after the performance, but it was great.
  13. I still wonder why Genesis was given an encore and no one else. Do they have some connection to Arkansas? I say this because I've heard the Crossmen have a new arrangement of Russian Christmas Music and I'd love to see them perform it.
  14. I was at Allentown on Saturday and even the lower rows where I sat were full. It probably helped to have Boston, Cadets, and Caballeros there. But, there was a decent contingent of Crossmen alumni who followed their tradition of having a picnic and their Hall of Fame ceremony before the show even if the Crossmen weren't in attendance. I know places like Arkansas have a strong marching band crowd, but they don't have the advantage of thousands of alumni nearby.
  15. While I am never a huge props person, this is one place where a few props may have been valuable.
  16. OK, I'm curous. I understand why Genesis got an encore at the Austin show. Anyone know why they are getting one at this show?
  17. My favorite part of this is hearing the appreciation from the crowd.
