  1. Until the Cadets and Crown, I thought it was excellent. I had the sound coming out of my stereo receiver and it was good. The glitches during the Cadets and Crown were unfortunate, but I hope the DCI techs can track down the cause and fix next time. As for editing choices by the multi-cam editor, I can't really fault that given this is the first show and who's to know what the big hits are. Live directing is not the easiest thing to do.
  2. Other than adding the capes, they are pretty much the same uniforms as last year--Black with white accents. Whether they make any changes in the middle of the season, I don't know.
  3. I want to thank you for your review. Even though I would have liked to hear something more positive(being a fan and all), you supported your points well. If you see the corps again this season, it would be nice to hear a comparison. I am still very optimistic. The attitude of the corps that I experienced History Night weekend was great. They've had some horrendous practice conditions with 100+ degree heat.
  4. I don't know if the word "meaningless" applies. They are what they are--early season scores. They certainly provide a directional feel for where the season has begun. If you are looking for something that tells you the results on the final day, I guess "meaningless" is right. I'm a fan of a corps (Crossmen) that hasn't competed yet, and the scores do give me an idea of what the Crossmen--or any corps competing late--have to do on Thursday to be competitive. I know what their scores were last year at the beginning. I remember that website with the logos. I lost the bookmark for it. If anyone finds it, post the url, please.
  5. I'm seeing some twitter reports, but the silence here is deafening. I know we were all watching the Annapolis show, but there's some big corps coming on in Stillwater right now.
  6. Is there anyone actually there in person? The stands look empty.
  7. My feed is perfect. Trivia: The chief judge was once a Crossmen drum major.
  8. Okay, I just got a picture. 5:53 PM.
  9. Blank here too. If anyone actually gets a picture, let the rest of us know so we can diagnose our problems.
  10. I found this review on line and it appears to be pretty honest about the strengths and weaknesses of the show and is actually detailed: http://www.txbands.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3451 In regards to how they would have scored last night had they competed, that is completely irrelevant. They never had a competition on their schedule for last night and their training schedule was never geared for competing last night. It's like judging last night's corps on how they performed their shows a week ago. Their first competition is next Thursday in Toledo and that is the day that matters. We'll see then.
  11. I'm kinda disappointed that the positions are the same as last year. Very little changes in drum corps.
  12. Sounds like the Crown are off and running. Now, let's see what the Cadets have.
  13. Based on a glance at the radar, they should be through the worst of it.
  14. I want to give a standing 'O' to the Colts' twitterer. It's very cool what they are doing. We're getting many photos.
  15. 80 Minutes to go and the weather forecast is looking much better than the Rockford show is. I just hope someone at the show will be posting tweets or reports or anything for us in cyberspace as the show progresses.
  16. I just looked at a radar picture at Intellicast and there's a huge system to the West of Rockford that is heading East. It looks nasty.
  17. From the website of one of their TV stations: There are a few twitter posts from corps there for the show saying the rain has been intense. Even if it clears for the show, practice time has certainly been lost.
  18. 11:42 am Severe storms are reported in the Rockford area right now.
  19. They aren't going to be that long. The design is much cleverer than any previous Crossmen cape. (I wore the first capes in 1978. Oy.) I only saw them on their hangers last week near where the sewing ladies were tailoring this year's uniforms. I don't know if the drumline is going to wear them.
  20. Yes, I'm assuming they are using them the whole show. I'd be surprised, though, if all the effects will be in early in the season. The last time they wore capes the entire show may have been 1986. http://www.crossmenalumni.org/pages/1980s.html
  21. I was wondering when they would add those. Did they use them in the pre-show?
  22. Interesting. I don't know the answer to that. Megan was on the podium when I was there last weekend.
  23. Anyone know if they are going to have a full compliment of judges or a shortened one like they did at the beginning of last season?
  24. I'm curious to know if anyone will be tweeting their observations on Twitter during the show.
