  1. Crown's office is indeed in Pineville NC, which is on the state line with Fort Mill SC. I believe they still have an office in Fort Mill proper, thus no need to make the change in the "From Fort Mill, South Carolina......" announcement. If you'll recall, the corps was founded in Charlotte NC in the late 80's, fielding the first competitive corps in 1990.
  2. Imagine if your corps had this Caption Head trio: Harloff Rennick Townsend (2 of the 3 worked together at Crown for many years... until Townsend was made an offer he couldn't refu$e)
  3. Spirit of Atlanta used rifles... only the guys, though.
  4. Yes, SCV's guard was announced as the winner. Spirit of Atlanta was not 8th, but 7th (still on the second sheet). Spirit's guard had the highest guard scores at every regional that summer, except DCI East, where it went to SCV. The drum major of SCV Jeff Pearson and I talked a few years ago about the incident... he had to give the award BACK so that it could be handed to us. Since then, I've cringed every time DCI announced a caption or a placement incorrectly.
  5. I think EVERYONE currently under contract should get a 1-year extension, as my son is not an age-out.
  6. Being familiar with promoting a show, I think it's the promoter's choice to have their show on Flo or not (not DCI's decision). If the promoter thinks the streaming will limit their ticket sales....
  7. Maybe they're reenacting the Battle of Winterfell??
  8. All that's missing is Dave Matthews' "Where Are You Going?"
  9. I'm interested to know which corps have a 24/7 nurse or medical staff???
  10. Thanks He is very determined to not let the medical condition keep him out of it. I've talked to Jim Coates about his reluctance the first time a T1D marched in Crown, but he said it all worked out and everyone just learns to deal with it. But you know as a parent, that we don't get a second chance to handle a dangerous situation that gets out of hand sometimes. I appreciate your input! How is your son these days?
  11. I know the doctor-speak. I'm well versed in what it takes to march these days. I DID want to hear from some kids or recent age-outs that have been through it!
  12. Wow....seven years since the last post! I've got a Euphonium player who made the Purple Team at Crown last November (before turning 15), who has had Type 1 for half his life. He's working on being good enough to be a MM in the next summer or two. I marched 3 years so I know the demands... but a Mom will worry! Would love to hear from some recent T1D's who have marched!
