  1. Sorry, that picture link didn't work. Lets try this one
  2. I think we have a winner with Alumni Stadium at Boston College. Here is an era photo of the stadium side by side with the Troopers picture. What do ya'll think?
  3. Does anybody happen to know why the 2 point penalty was removed. I would guess Hopkins argued for it with something about how it was DCI not doing their job in having the field lined properly that delayed the show not The Cadets... or something along those lines
  4. They do, Chorale VI.... its just short with talking over it mostly
  5. What are you talking about...left over licks from past years? They play 4 songs (Symphonic Movement, Blue Shades, Chorale VI, and Cantus - Song of the Aeolus) in this show and all 4 have been used in DCI almost never that I know of. Symphonic Mvmt - Never before Blue Shades - 5 times (never by the Cadets) Chorale VI - Twice (both times Patriots) Cantus - Song of the Aeolus - Twice (Patriots, Esperanza) The musical selection for this show is one of the coolest ever done in Drum Corps!! B) You're not the first person to say that either and it couldn't be farther from the truth. Somebody please tell me where ya'll come up with that crap. I agree with that guy earlier that said he wanted the karaoke version of this show. I just fast foward through the long narration stuff when I listen to the show.
  6. y'know all this talk about narration... I think even with a fair amount.... even through the whole show...that it can still be cool. There was a high school (Westfield High School in Spring, TX, which has won BOA grand nationals recently) that did a narration show back in 2001 (I think... it may have been 2000) that was very cool. Their show was about the 2 sides of the brain and how each functioned and how it came together. If you can find it, it was awesome. Very effective use of narration that got the croud going wild. We talked about it a lot at my high school after we saw it. edit... unfortunately, I think the cadets missed it this time.
  7. ok, I just have to say this. I, at first, could not stand the narration in the Cadets show this year. The first time I saw the show, it ruined it for me. However, the second time I saw it, when I knew what was coming ..... They have the BEST music in this show.... SYMPHONIC MVMT!!! BLUE SHADES!!!! and then SONG OF THE AEOLUS turned out freaking awesome!!!! I think they need to limit how much you can use the amplification. Corps do not play as much melody and plain don't play as much as they used too, and its Drum & Bugle Corps, not Drum, Bugle and Cool Things You Can Do With Electronics Corps. The only way I think it should be used is for short affects like in the Bluecoats show, or maybe to mike a piano in the pit or something for a little different affect that way. Just like the corps have to be moving for a certain percentage of the show, I think they should not be allowed to use amplification for more then a small percentage of their time either. I still don't like the narration. I thinks its too loud and overpowers the corps too much. The corps might as well not even play during the talking .... the narration just sticks out too much. Even that isn't the most annoying part of the voice over to me. I can get over even that seeing has its a personal taste thing. The trumpet guy that talks last sound like Nepoleon Dynamite, and that ruins the entire affect. I can't help put laugh when he says, "..when I Play my trumpet something amazing happens!" I imagine Nepoleon Dynamite saying, "Yeah, I'm pretty much the best trumpet player (as opposed to drawer) I know" I don't know if I'm the first person to notice that, but it ruins the whole thing for me. Maybe that is another joke they put in there, if thats the case then awesome! Great music though. Without the narration, I would say one of my top 5 favorite shows... the narration bumps it down a little. I get what they were going for, I just think they did too much though and should have toned it back a little and had more of that music.
  8. If you wanna say that then you gotta count pre 1972 as well in which case its more like Green Machine 13 - BD 11 If you count titles since BD came about and coincidently DCI (the organization), then its more like 7 - 11.
  9. Lets Narrow that field down to recent history, oh lets say the last 7 years Cavaliers - 5 Blue Devils - 1 Then, how many 2nd place finishes? Cavaliers - 2 Blue Devils - 3 Just to recap the Score, in the last 7 years (Starting with year 2000) Finishes in the top 2 places (1st place finishes): Cavaliers - 7 (5) Blue Devils - 4 (1) You're right. The cavies style is worthless, stick with whats almost working. :P
  10. OK, so I just saw 07 crown and they shocked the hell out of me, very cool show. Bridgemen 77 Madison 2001 (Even thought they weren't quite what they had been recently, the show rocked) Blue Devils 89 was a great show What about the Velvet Knights, they had some cool shows, they did James Bond in 86, then Magical Mystery Tours in 87 and 88 (and twice more in later years)
  11. I was wondering if anybody new where I could get the pre 1972 recordings and the corps that did not make finals from 1972 til present. DCI.org has available all the finals performances from 1972 til now and I have all those. I'm looking for the the older and more obscure recording. Any help would be much appreciated.
  12. Does anybody know where I can get recordings of corps pre 1972 and corps that did not make finals from 1972 on? I have all the recordings off dci.org, but they only date back to 1972 and only include finals performances.
