Female bass drummer here. Graduated high school in 95 and wanted to march drum corps but thought I wasn’t good enough since I was female. I learned years later (after my age out year) that I was good enough to make a dci drumline after a conversation with my percussion instructor. My percussion instructor marched Suncoast Sound and our drill writer and visual caption head is now a DCI judge.
I’ve spent time volunteering and doing tour ops with a corps or two over the years but found it to be a boys club. I was treated unfairly due to being female. I was supposed to be paid one year and never saw the money I was promised. I busted my butt working hard those summers. SMH

I never told him not to post. I just said to combine more thoughts together before posting. This thread is already going to be 200+ as mentioned by others before me. SMH

Boston just didn’t really seem as loud as I had seen them previously or compared to other corps last night. It was honestly odd. Now I know they mic certain players and reinforce through the sound system (which I hate), but it was as if that meant the corps had to hold back to make sure the blend was right. Nah, if Boston wants to win this (or get second at least) they need to let loose
Boston did not have a good run last night.

Boston Crusader membership is no longer predominantly out of Florida. It is mostly out of Texas now since brass mostly all brass staff teach in Texas.

My location if I go would be #6 on that list. I looked up to see what the seat availability was as of now. Only sold 45 seats, about half the theater if you include the first two rows! This is close to Tarpon Springs High so a lot of former Tarpon World guard is marching with Crown. Blue Stars have had a large Tarpon brass membership in years past.

Hof, I need to send you a private message one day. Your story is eerily similar to mine. Same cancer - colon, same stage - stage 4, same spread a liver (also lymph nodes and lungs), same diagnosis date - Aug 2022, almost same age at diagnosis - 44 (turned 45 in Oct).
and we both love the 1993 drum corps season!
