  1. i loved everything about 2005, minus the drumspeak...great original music (especially loved the play on Medea)...i just loved the whole twisted Zone concept too. The only parts of 2006 i really liked were the drum feature and the moving on-field warmup...i did think that was pretty cool to tie in the ending to last year's show as a "refresher" to start off this year's show.
  2. tough call....as far as total enjoyment i gotta give 007 a very close nod over Niagara Falls which gets a very close nod over Frameworks. I really liked Machine and thought it was a clear champion, but i dont think its one of my favorites (yet anyway). 2001 is a bit back from that, it was good but i wasnt really a huge fan...
  3. i agree with those who think they have made pits too loud. I appreciate a lot of the little sound effects that can be used now but i honestly dont know if the tradeoff is worth it. I can think of at least 5 or 6 shows from 04-05 where the pit volume levels definitely put a damper on a show for me.
  4. amen amen amen i loved both of those shows. I dont think 02 was quite clean enough to compete for finals, but still a great show. IMO 2003 got completely hosed on semi's night.
  5. fantastic. the tradition of bad tanlines still lives on too!...
  6. SCV's show is fantastic this year. Even if they finish 6th it will be a huge step forward in progress and something to be proud of seeing how tight this competition is. Kinda reminds me of 1990...the top 6 were really moving and moving till the very end so even if you finished 6th it could just as easily have been 4th the very next night.
  7. fantastic asssessment.... not sure about the '87 remake though. It seems to me that some shows made such a mark in history that they should just be left alone...SCV did not do themselves any favors last year with their remake of RCM. I could really get into a '92 remake...or some other HOlsinger. Cadets+Holsinger = Good!
  8. SCV 2000 transformed me from a band kid who was a drum corps fan into the drum corps freak i am today...so there you go. They have always been my favorite. Pure class, style, innovation, in your face...theyre awesome.
  9. interesting....glad to see '04 Crown and '05 Bloo in the lineup! Both were shows that i really enjoyed.
  10. hahahahahahah!!!!! i love it but will it be mic'ed?
  11. SCV 2000 - end of the Bartok pieces with the collapsing triangle. Awesome drill, awesome horn flash, awesome guard with the toss and then laying down, and awesome mello lick! I dont know why I love it so much, its so simple, but i love that mello lick they used in 98-00. Cadets 1993 - either the end of the opener or the second piece...pick one. each had breakneck block rotations from #### that looked absolutely sweet. Blue Knights 2002 - end of the ballad...talk about a release. And i dont necessarily mean the cutoff, more like the release of tension being built throughout the ballad Crossmen 2002 - end of the opener was in your face. the entire show was hot as ####...i loved it! Just a few for now...
  12. definitely 99-00 runner up: 98-99 02-03 87-88
  13. i love that show! i dont get the bad rap it gets around here. sure it wasnt the cleanest ever but i liked the music a lot
  14. 92-93 for sure... very honorable mention to... 98-99 00-01
  15. well, it could use some more meat but knowing the Cadets things will change a hundred times before its all said and done....pretty good sound right now too.
  16. I really really liked Crown 2004, the thing that bugged me the most was definitely the singing. i HATE "seasons of love," but for some reason when Crown's hornline started jammin out to it i really dug it...just not the singing. And Bohemian Rhapsody was probably my favorite single movement of 2004...i love that song and they played it beautifully
  17. i have exactly the same problem with the same 3 shows! 2000 has been my favorite BD show since i very first saw it back in early tour of that year, but then i also LOVED 2004 in Denver. I ended up going with 2000 but its a tough call...
  18. well since i thought '92 was a championship show, i voted for it. It was downright awesome. 2001 was a close runner up...they really took a lemon and made it a great show over the course of the summer. What a hornline 1997 was the show that got me hooked into drum corps...talk about an insanely hard show, it was amazing.
  19. ####! wheres mine! I also liked the GE judges better...it encompassed the entire corps, not just 2 sections that i was never apart of :) I have learned a lot by listening to their comments on the first 3 sets of DVD's. I will say that i do like the percussion judge because its kinda like a lot recording...you can hear many things that you cant hear on the recordings.
  20. it is a little surprising to me too, but if you look back to the early-mid 90's especially, the work is demanding and clean but also dated...it wasnt as progressive as what BD and Cadets were doing at the time. Id say they caught up in the late 90's.
  21. The one that really gets me is 1992...what a great year for the Cadets, in the larger picture i think they should have won the whole enchilada as well. Another year im not so sure i agree with is 1995. I love the whole dark Blue Devils show, but to me the Cadets guard made that show...they told the whole story and that has to be one of the best flag lines ive ever seen. I love the whole silent work part after the mello intro and before the first loud chords of the show.
