  1. Someone back me up on this. Twice during the Big, Loud theater event tonight I hear Steve Rondinaro say that semi-finals would be shown live on DCI Fan network for those who had subscribtions. But as a special treat Finals would be shown live. I heard him say it not once, but Twice. Then at the end of the event when he was interviewing Dan Atchinson, Dan said that the final scores would be broadcast live. So which is it? I bet that Steve misunderstood, but I like how Dan didnt acknowledge the comment. Tell me I was not the only one who heard this?
  2. Does anyone have any info on Housing for the Broken Arrow, OK show 1 week from Today? Thanks
  3. Oh, Now I get it. I'm sorry man I feel for you. I know what your talking about. I once got home late from playing golf and the ex decided that me and my favorite baseball jersey needed to part ways as a punishment. Sort of like that huh?
  4. I don't know what the relative humidity or appropriate temperature is, but you can be sure it's not 100 degrees. I am just saying, when I see an age out wearing a 10 year old jacket, I don't think to myself, "Wow that person is so cool, I wished I could be cool like that" I think, "Wow that is just screaming, Look at me, look at me, I need attention because I used to get a lot of it and now I get none". I think it's awesome that everyone had a positive drum corps experience and I think it's great the drum corp shows all over america is a place for alumni to reunite and keep in touch. But the past is the past. Move on. Enjoy your past and remember it fondly. I recently saw Cheap Trick perform at a Motorcycle event I was attending. Rick Nielson is still wearing that silly little beaning and shorts with the suspenders that he wore in all of those videos in the 80's. He is about 60 years old and he looks frickin ridiculous. Move on.
  5. Dude, you lost your jacket in a divorce? What the heck is that all about?
  6. FTNK, You have the best argument so far on this topic. I still don't agree, but I can see your point on that. When I was in Pasadena in 07 for finals. I enjoyed talking to an old Cavies vet from the 50's who I spotted due to his jacket. But it was much cooler there than in PHX.
  7. Regarding the comment, "We worked hard for it, we earned it" Maybe so. I play in a golf tournament every year that has a long and storied 50 year history. The winner of this tournament historically gets as their prize, a very large, very ostentatious silver and turquoise encrusted belt buckle. It is the most god awful thing you have ever seen and yet every player in the event covets it dearly. The winners work hard for it and deserve it. It doesn't mean they actually "WEAR it in public." for those of you are proud of wearing your jackets, what is it you are trying to accomplish? Maybe I am missing something here. Enlighten me please. You are already at an event where you share a common interest with others in attendance. Do you feel it necessary to gloat about your experience? To me it just seems selfish and is a desperate cry for attention. Sort of like "Star on your belly" from Dr. Suess.
  8. Ok for years this has been bugging me and now that I am an old man I am going to start acting like an old, crusty, dude. As musicians and marching enthusiasts we have all had our share of verbal abuse and bullying from persons outside our activity who don't know anything about music we all love so much. You know what I am talking about. We have all had experiences when we were called, "Band Geek", "Losers', etc. etc. by all of the so called, "Cool People" when we were growing up. This is an experience gives us all sort of this common bond that we all share. So my point of agitation is this. Please don't contribute to the stereotype and act like a dork by wearing your old corp jacket to a drum Corps event when the temperature is say, above 90 degrees. Can we all agree on that? I mean we all know that you were a bad ### Trumpet player who marched in '96 Vanguard, or were in the guard for 02 Troopers. You know it, your friends know it. By wearing a jacket in blistering heat does not bring you any more fans than you already have. No one is going to come up to you and say, "OMG, you are so cool for marching in 1992 Devils, can I get your autograph" ? When I see someone showing off by wearing a jacket that they are so clearly uncomfortable in just makes you look pathetic. Don't do it. Leave the jacket at home. Obviously this does not apply to northern climates or inclement weather this summer when it can get a little chilly outside. but I live in Phoenix, Arizona and every single year at show time it's at least 95 degrees if not 100. When I see some of these goofs walking around in their old corp jackets it just makes me think, "You are a walking billboard for dorks" Maybe the football players, cheerleaders and popular kids were right about us?
  9. In no particular order. (BTW, fun question) Sky Ryders Bridgemen 27 Suncoast Sound Geneseo Knights
  10. I have been reading this forum with fascination all morning long. My brother, who was with me on Thursday night made an excellent point a few moments ago. Everyone always talks about how drum corps is such a wonderful experience because it prepares you for life challenges. Well there was no better example of that then last Thursday night. Excellent point. No one was being disrespectful of Cadets or their fans. The Cadets have been a driving force in Drum Corps for a long time but let’s face it. That was a grand standing move and some fans called GH on it. It’s as simple was that. Get over it. People who called someone for pulling a move like that are not “Pond Scum” or even bad fans. They are just people who see things for what they are. For all of you sappy fans who are saying that the “Kids” have been harmed get over your selves.
  11. I made a little Google Map of corps housing locations based on a June 07 Post. I hope the data is still current, if there have been changes let me know and I will correct. Also this is not a true mashup but it serves it's purpose. I didnt have time last night to add every corp with known housing info. I hope to finish in the next few days, so check back soon. Also if anyone has new housing info for corps not previously with posted housing info let me know so we can get them on the map. (I.E. Bluecoats) Google Housing Map Comments are welcome. KM
