  1. Company front OTL. Nuttin' better at the time. And we all tried it. Still would love to try it at a slow crouch run I saw one time. Forget who it was - rehearsal video on UTube I think. The whole corps coming at the camera really fast playing very smoothly. I was stunned and said to myself now Who coud have thought of that? Puppet
  2. Do they have to be current Corps? And I just don't see the Sky from the East Mixing with the Scouts (love 'em) that's like you said mixing Cabs and Mighty St. Joe. Maybe Skyliners and St Rita's we wouldn't even have had a clash of instructors - they were all the same. Uniforms - Red White and Black - see where I'm going? but if they have to be active corps I'll have to do some thinking. Puppet
  3. The best time to get a judge - not that I would want to crush the very fragile bell of my beautiful Olds Mellophone - is during the first or second show of the season. Especially back before there were scatter drills and the like. But I think it was in 1972 we had an 8 man rifle section who used to toss their equipment to each other as part of the show. Judges would be hopping around like fleas in a frying pan. We were also warned off targeting a judge. We were under the tick rule and there's nothing like the retribution of an extra dozen of those things. Puppet
  4. Oh yeah, I forgot about The Cavies - they played Slaughter a couple of times? May I suggest old school When Johnny Comes Marching Home ala Anaheim Kingsmen? Puppet
  5. Sorry about this, but I have been listening to the Skyliners kill Slaughter On 10th Avenue (and I mean in a good way!) for over 40 years and I would love to go OTL with those kind of killer licks coming out of my horn! Of course, there is virtually nobody who ever played that great tune from On Your Toes originally penned by Richard Rogers and that includes: The Osmond Cadets way back in 1950, Saint Kevin's Emerald Knights Argonne Rebels 1962 Saint Kevin's Emerald Knights 1965 Eau Claire Boys 1968 St. George's Olympians 1970 Blessed Sacrament Golden Knights 1974 & 75 & 82 & 89 Madison Scouts 1979 Krescendos 1980 & 81 Americanos 1983 US Air Force Academy SENIORS 1958 Outlaws 1960, 62, 65, 66, 70, 71, 72, 73, 80, 81, 85, 95, New York Skyliners 1963 Keystoners 1965 Albion Grenadiers 1966 Albion Grenadiers 1998 Erie Thunderbirds MiniCorps 2000 The Brigadiers 2005, 06, 07 New York Skyliners Alumni Probably a lot more but those are the ones I've got in my collection. So I'm thinking a great OTL choice. Puppet
  6. Wait! You forget me on Mello, too. Remember me? I wanna play too and I can still march! Sob! Puppet
  7. OK The salute is downright stunning…but: Just out of an old habit, what's with the hands all over the place? BITD that would have been worth bruised knuckles. Puppet
  8. Better than South Florida! Of course anything is. Puppet
  9. Where are all the sopranos? And is anybody keeping a tally? We can't start talking about uniforms until we know how many there are to outfit, right? Oh, oh another name to put in the hat Ladies and gentlemen, on the line: THE D.C. IDLERS! Puppet
  10. Oh please let me take you back to around '68 / '69: St Joseph Patron Cadets - Rubin Ariola, Euphonium the tune Minnie The Moocher BHOF inductee, too! Puppet
  11. I recommend that bass player, Ringo (who you can't see behind the big drum!) Never could figure out how he marched a whole drill with no forward vision. Puppet
  12. Ah ha! The glide…circa 1971 - Carmen Cluna style. But the mark time - all knees and elbows - classic form even for Contras! Old, old school. Puppet
  13. This is my favorite shot of one of our Drum Majors. Maria Costa flanked by Sulley on the left and Mickey on the right. Somebody caught this great shot of her just after her famous about face after saluting the stands at the beginning of the show. And a classic shot. All circa 1969-70. Respectfully submitted, Puppet
  14. No here she is out of uniform! She is big! LOL Puppet
  15. The Olds Ultratone was a beautiful sound! Puppet
  16. We'll have to think about the Pit, Mike. I'm honored to be named. G Melo for me, too! Still think we might be needing more sapranos and guard. The Centurions? Puppet
  17. So, ok. Larry, yes. Pinto, too. Check out all the Bozos at: http://kidshow.dcmemories.com/bozo.html Or maybe any DCI rules meeting. Puppet
  18. And what's really funny about that is the the kids from Oh Lord Please Help as we dubbed them, were some of the wimpiest kids Brooklyn ever produced! I remember a trip to Miami CYO Nationals I think. We stayed at this swank hotel on Collins Avene right in the Heart of the Strip - The Marco Polo - when we showed up, two bus loads of kids of every color you could name - the staff looked like deer in the headlights! I remember the manager freaking out because one of our cymbal players was polishing his cymbals with Brasso in the lobby! Puppet
  19. Maybe I can change the name of this topic to: OMG Could I Have Been So Stupid? Historically, Ronald was first introduced in 1963 - played by none other than former Bozo The Clown actor Willard (that's right! the weather guy) Scott. I'm just too old to be embarrassed - please everybody, take your best shot. LOL Puppet
