  1. Absolutely. can. not. wait. I bet it's going to be fantastic. I liked the guard when Adam was there....but I didn't feel like it was as original as it had been. I can't wait to have the old crown guard back!
  2. I would say this is my favorite BD picture. Thats a perfect 20 right there. https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/40158_1547109992148_1067004165_3181288_4281406_n.jpg
  3. James Madison University has quite alot. We have a 450 person marching band so I'm pretty sure I don't know everyone that has marched corps but colorguard has people from Surf and Troopers. I knew a few trumpet players from Cadets, 2 tubas from Cadets, a few baritones from Cadets and Crown, mellos at Blue Stars and Crown, and I'm sure I'm forgetting some people. We used to have a trumpet soloist from BD but that was before I got here.
  4. Yea completely agree with the "if it aint broke, why try to fix it". and yea Shapiro is back at BS, I just saw theyre announcement for him to come back. Keeping my fingers crossed for Michael Townsend, really loved his stuff! :)
  5. Hmmmm, good point :) Never considered that, I'm really hoping Michael Townsend stays. He's a great representation of Crown. I heard a rumor Michael Shapiro was going to Crown....but I'll believe that when I see it. Would be pretty cool if he did, though. Would definetly be different, but might be what they need to make them #1?
  6. Any word on who's taking over Crown's guard(the corps) now that Adam left? And where do you guys think he'll go? :)
  7. The success of the team is determined by the team, so don't tell me to work harder personally, thank you. And please point out one thing in their show that was remotely innovative? I understand they were very clean...but I'm not talking about their cleanliness. I do have a good attitude...I could have been much ruder about my opinion.
  8. Well stated, I guess it's just a personal preference for me to watch guards catch strong. And I respect that Canada has a different technique from us. But I wish there was a norm or something. Nothin' I can do about it though :)
  9. Yea, I understand that they all do the same technique. But is catching solid and strong not being accounted for when scoring anymore??
  10. I do agree that they had some musical work, I just don't agree with their execution and the score they got. I just think that catching solid is starting to fade from scores. But thanks for responding!
  11. FIRST OFF: I'm not here to bash Pacificaires BUT, I really don't understand WHY they did so well. They had awful catching technique...I understand that they all had the SAME weak technique....but still...weak technique wins I guess. Shouldn't catching SOLID be the standard technique. IMO, The only reason they did so well was because they can dance well. I understand that dancing and looking graceful while doing the work is VERY important, but this is colorguard. You shouldn't score so well just because you can dance amazing, but can't catch solid. Also, there was nothing innovative about their show, I am not saying they should have been as far out there as Onyx, but USF and Alta Marea had much better show concepts. What was their show about anyways? Riding a train and coming home? How original. This is just my opinion, I'm not asking for people to tell me I'm wrong, but I do want to hear other people's opinions. :)
  12. Yup, mines been doing the blurry thing since about Mid to Late Feb.
  13. Just wondering if anyone is having a problem with Fan Network. When I'm watching, the video keeps switching from a clear audio and good picture quality to a blurry quality and really low quality audio, but then will switch back after about 10 seconds...then 30 seconds later switch, and so on and so forth. I noticed it on my friends computer too, is anyone else having this kind of problem or is my laptop turning against me? :P
  14. ahhhh. my bad, sorry everyone. Great job Ars Nova Open :)
  15. So I just read the article about how the lights went off at the Austin Regional during Ars Nova's performance, and I really want to see how they pushed through and kept performing...yet Fan has their Prelims performance on instead of Finals....Fan should put their finals run SOMEWHERE so that we can see how B.A. they were
  16. This is a picture of the some of the sisters of the current Sigma Tau Iota and the Kappa Pledge Class (there are about 25 to 30 alumni/inactive sisters that are not pictured). ΣTI, also better known at James Madison University as FLOC/For the Love Of Colorguard, is a service club dedicated to raising money for the James Madison University Marching Royal Dukes, Nuance Winterguard, and other surrounding high school color guards and winter guards. FLOC is a club-like sorority, complete with families, bigs and littles, and traditions, and is growing more every year. The only reason our sorority is still club-like status is because JMU only recognizes national fraternities and sororities. Membership is open to anyone, even band members (we have 2 woodwind players who used to be in color guard in high school), and even people who have never done guard (we have 1 person pledging this semester who has never done color guard). It is not required to be in FLOC if you are in the JMU Color guard, out of our 44 member color guard this fall, about 12 pledges are actually in the guard, and 5 aren’t in the guard, just people who appreciate color guard! There is a whole pledging process along with an initiation into the sister hood at the end of each semester. We do various fundraising each year including car washes, bake sales, Avon fundraisers, and much more. We do most of our fundraising at the JMU Parade of Champions Marching Band Competition every October, this past year we raised our goal of $1,000 at our booth. We also try to do fundraising during winter guard season at competitions in Atlantic Indoor Association. Every spring we have a FLOC Color guard Spin Clinic which is open to anyone, students, instructors, etc and the sisters all organize and choreograph for it. FLOC is a very dynamic group and many sisters spin at different winterguards, such as Nuance Winterguard, First Flight Winterguard, Reynolda Independent, and Impact Independent. FLOC was founded on October 27, 2005 and became an official club April 4, 2006. It was founded by Cat Nightengale, Tara Lowrie, Suzanne Gendreau, Laura Gooding, Molly Hoffman, Sara Drauszewski, Misha Drauszewski, and Erin Johnson. Our motto is “Service Through Interaction”. ΣTI at JMU is willing to help any school wanting to start up their own chapter. We can send you our constitution and guidelines and everything to help you get started. If you’re the LEAST bit interested, please contact Mason Lemocks at DMLemocks@gmail.com. A few of the FLOC sisters watching one of the classes at the FLOC 2010 Colorguard Clinic
  17. Any news on IO? Other then Zydeco, which I'm ruuuuul excited for
  18. Hey everyone, hope yall are getting excited for the winter season...I sure am :D I was just wondering, is there a list of guards that have been bumped from IA to IO and from IO to IW? Or will we just know at the first regionals and such? If anyone knows of guards getting bumped as well, leave it here!
  19. A girl I marched with this winter who's returning to Blue Coats for her 2nd summer has a tatoo on her left wrist that says "Six Words". If anyone asks her what it means she say's it's Blue Coats thing. Just like SUTA is with Phantom and DOBA with Jersey Surf
  20. There was music in Onyx's show?!? o_O
  21. ....ummm...I just use that so that I can see how I'm ranked against other IA guards...just cuz it says I'm a certain number doesn't mean that I live my life to it and expect it to stay the same way until finals night....I just like to see how my scores are ranked against other guards scores...and YES....I KNOW....you can't ACCURATELY do that if you're not all at the same show with all of the same judges...
