  1. If we get rid of the least competitive corps every year, where will we be in about 17 years?
  2. I wonder which historical shows would have won both?
  3. Does it occur to anyone that deleting posts that violate policies that protect the site from liability is required to ensure the continued existence of the site so there can still be a place where these things can be discussed?
  4. Nah. There are three second place corps this year, and in any category at least one of those corps could knock them off on a given night. Besides, they would have to win every sub-caption. Winning a caption by, say, losing a sub caption by .1 and winning the other by .2 would not be enough. I do think they will break 99, though, especially with 3 other corps that can push up the scores with a great performance.
  5. I’ve been watching shows that are my cup of tea not win for 25 years and I have never been angered by that. A little disappointed maybe but not angry. Only one corps can win in any case, and I like a heck of a lot more shows than one each year. So if I was angry all the other shows didn’t win, I would have to be angry every year. Doesn’t seem like a good way to enjoy the activity.
  6. That would be a yes for me, and apparently a lot of other people judging by the crowd reactions, not to mention an early season thread in which they were very competitive as people’s favorite corps. I don’t understand being angry just because one show isn’t your cup of tea. I don’t get into every show every year, but I’m glad there are others that do.
  7. I appreciated it the first time I saw it because I like the music and the performance level is phenomenal. I appreciated it even more upon learning more about the subject matter and the references and ways it is portrayed. I think they do a great job of entertaining both the casual fan and the more curious fan.
  8. I notice the pulse every time Boston is standing still in their opening set before the show starts. It seems counterintuitive to me because I would think compression should be easiest when the pixels aren’t changing so that is not a time I would expect the stream to be too much to keep up with.
  9. There was a time your street was better at basic math.
  10. Boston’s show is clearly about the Blue Devils. They are the whale they can’t seem to catch. And the play On the Waterfront because, if not for BD, they could have been a contender.
  11. I think he was referring to 1996. Phantom wasn’t that far behind in 2008.
  12. Even where they were third they still scored very close to the top.
  13. Once again scores contain individual surprises that mostly cancel out into an unsurprising end.
  14. Of course it has heft. It’s about a whale.
  15. Last year you could have watched SCV do a standstill due to wet conditions.
