2017 World Championships Prelims - Aug 10
PioneerWebmaster replied to DrumScorps's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Hopefully everyone enjoyed Pioneer's 2017 production! Just a quick reminder that we're still trying to raise funds to help the corps recover from an incident last month that totaled the RV used by our staff and administration. As of today, we're only 10% to our goal of $30,000. Any amount that you can contribute would be greatly appreciated. Get more information on how you can help at the link: https://www.chuffed.org/project/pioneer-staff-camper-vehicle -OR- Click Here to Donate Via PayPal -
Pioneers need our help
PioneerWebmaster replied to RetiredMusTeach's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
DCI gave the campaign a little push today via social media, which has helped push us closer to the $3,000 mark. The combined total (Chuffed + donations made via PIO website) stands at $2,868. We also have a few people that have committed to sending in checks to the corps office. Those are not included in the total at this point until the corps has a chance to receive & process them. If you would like to help, here are the links: https://www.chuffed.org/project/pioneer-staff-camper-vehicle -OR- Click Here to Donate Via PayPal -

We have added a combined total to our home page that shows the overall donations received (manually updated several times throughout the day). As of this evening, the total stands at $1,970. The corps could really use additional support... -
Thank you Stu for the second call! There are two ways that you can contribute: https://www.chuffed.org/project/pioneer-staff-camper-vehicle -OR- https://pioneer-corps.org/contribute/make-a-donation.html I will continue to provide updates on the progress as often as I can.

Pioneers need our help
PioneerWebmaster replied to RetiredMusTeach's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
This is a fair question. While the vehicle was properly insured, insurance will only provide us with a fair market value for the RV. That amount likely will not cover the cost of a replacement RV. In addition, the cost of the 5 cranes & manpower required to recover the RV may not be fully covered by insurance (the costs may exceed what the insurance company deems to be a "reasonable cost"). -

Thank you to everyone that has contributed so far. In addition to the $995 raised through Chuffed, we have also received $400 in contributions via our website. As previously mentioned in this thread, you can also contribute direct to the corps using this link: https://pioneer-corps.org/contribute/make-a-donation.html -

Countdown to 2015 Audition Weekend
PioneerWebmaster replied to Eleran's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Just to clarify Pioneer's camp/audition schedule... Our first audition/rehearsal camp is January 9th-11th, 2015 in the Milwaukee area. The corps will not be having any full weekend camps prior to that date. Auditions will continue into our February Camp and possibly March depending on the needs of each section. There is a possibility that we will be holding satellite audition events in other regions. Details for those events are still being worked out. Stay tuned to our website & social media for future announcements regarding these events. -

Pioneer Deserved Better
PioneerWebmaster replied to cavaliervet85's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I'll kick back with these statistics as well. We flip the website over to start recruiting for the upcoming season right around the 4th of July each season. Been doing it that way for over a decade. I keep pretty good stats/analytics on everything digital that we do for benchmarking purposes. Through tonight, we have seen a 315% increase in "interest forms" being completed for the upcoming season when compared to this same date last year. In addition, we have seen double digit percentage increases in visitors, pageviews and other measurable stats on our website over the past two months. You can color these stats a bunch of different ways, but they irrefutably represent a significant increase in interest in the corps over the course of this summer. Summary: the JOY that we brought to the field in 2014 left a significantly better impression with many people than what's being portrayed in this thread. -

Playing Well in Plainwell - June 21
PioneerWebmaster replied to DeanInChicago's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Lowest since 2002. That season Pioneer scored a 43.450 at the All Star Review in Toledo. Focusing on the positives, the 2002 corps improved almost 30 points over the course of the season. Hopefully history repeats itself again in that sense. Random fun fact. In 1994 the corps started off with the season with a 47.5 (same score as our first show last night). The 1994 corps went on to win the Division 2 championship and placed 18th at Quarterfinals/Prelims. -
Show of Shows Rockford
PioneerWebmaster replied to Highwaydude's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Mandarins 1993 used two tarps on the field in Jackson, MS. The heat from the sun killed the grass under the tarps. Granted, most corps aren't performing under direct sunlight like they were. However, you simply can't risk any type of damage to the grass if you want to keep the show site for years to come. -
First thought - you almost certainly would see it in all of the high camera shots. Second thought - in addition to the fall that was linked above - there have been several additional failures of these camera systems in recent years that led to cameras and/or cables falling to the competitive surface below. Most recently, it happened at the NASCAR race in Charlotte this spring and several fans were injured. There are several versions of the system that are in use, but many of the sanctioning bodies are reviewing their use.

FYI - Chrome is reporting that the DCP forums contain Malware again. Seems to have just started this evening as I didn't encounter the message earlier in the day.
