  1. I have a former student wishing to sell her 36" king sabre. In excellent condition, it was used for 2 seasons. She would like to sell for $150. If you are interested, please contact me and I will give you her contact information.
  2. Sorry, you are right. I realized that while I was away from my computer and forgot to come back and change it! doh!
  3. The Indiana High School Color Guard Assoc. (IHSCGA) has 3 A classes. AAA, AA, and A. All 3 are scored on the Regional A score sheets, but AAA and AA are 'divisions' of the A class, and have Divisional Finals. Only class A groups can go to State Prelims and qualify for State Finals.
  4. Yes! Interplay! I saw them at the Indy Regional that year, and their music cut out, and they kept going! It was great! (I had to you-tube it to remember, and found a video taken from the side of the floor)
  5. the music sounds so familiar but I can't figure out who used it? Thanks!
  6. Have you thought about calling a dry cleaner and seeing what they say about it? Maybe they know the rules.
  7. I use 5/8" diameter lag bolts with a 1" washer. For the top, I use a 5 to 6" long bolt, and a 2.5 or 3" long bolt for the bottom. the washer keeps the bolt at the end of the pole, it fits right on top of the end. I then insulate them with 3/8 wide sticky side weatherstipping. I stick 2 pieces of weatherstripping on either side of the length of the bolt, squeeze and quickly shove it down into the pole. This stops the rattling on the inside of the pole. Nice and quiet!
  8. A few things: You and your co-captain must be on the same wavelength. When I was a senior, I was co-captain. I wanted to get things done. my co-captain wanted to be everyone's friend and wasn't as hard working. Made for lots of conflict. Lead by example. In terms of bonding, what about organizing a picnic with some activities (maybe making tie-dye together and wear on the same days?), friendly tug of war, get out the slip n slide!! LOL!! bowling is always fun, miniature golf, stuff like that. Congrats!
  9. That absolutely does *not* burn my hide. . . I think it's AWESOME that you have such support! What a great administrator he is! I'm very happy for you!
  10. My band director knows better than to not show up at a show. Of course, the band director happens to be my husband. . .. There would be some serious cold shoulders if he didn't show. However, he does enjoy watching us perform, so he tries very hard to come to the closest ones (usually he has our son with us so the longer days are not that easy for him to attend). I don't expect him to come to every show. Now the PRINCIPALS on the other hand. .. . . I couldn't get them to come across town to watch us. Better yet, I could only get the Assistant principal to see our *very last* performance, which was after a band concert at our school. The main Principal couldn't even show, after multiple invitations. There was always some other more important athletic event that he needed to attend. . that burns my hide. . .. I will continue to invite them to see us perform, hoping that maybe someday they will learn to appreciate us, and watch. It would mean so much to my kids. Right now, they don't think that Administration cares. Anyway, onto the topic of "circuit dues", here in Indiana, our dues are $200 for the season, and $50 for each contest you wish to go to, and $75 for State competitions. The $200 qualifies each group affiliated with that particular school (so if we had a cadet group, they would not have to pay an additional $200, they would be incuded, but they would have to pay the contest fee) and gets one vote at meetings. (I am the main member, I get to vote. If we had a cadet group, they would NOT get to vote)
  11. Well, at the time, as far as I knew, it hadn't broken all the way, it just had a crack in it. Apparently, it *was* broken worse than I had thought. I wouldn't have knowingly spun a very broken in the classroom. That's just stupid. Mistakes happen. . .
  12. Well, I was doing a speech in English class in High School and was using a rifle that had been broken, and was also taped. I went to do a small flip, and one half of the rifle went one way, the other half hit the glass in the classroom door (but didnt' break it). Needless to say, I got an A on the demonstration because my recovery was awesome, but that just shows you how dangerous it is to even use a taped broken rifle.
  13. I am a director. Last year, the boosters purchased a 36" King for one of the girls who couldn't afford to buy one. We have decided to change to 39's. so, we have this 36 to sell. It has been used for a fall and winter season by a high schooler. It has normal use scratches on the hilt and basket, the blade is currently taped white (and has been since the beginning). Blade is not bent, and it is tight. Asking $125. please email me at nmurphy @ joink.com (remove spaces) Thanks! Nicole
