  1. Great review, and great additional comments from others too!

My thoughts of a couple of other things:

Pacific Crest was my surprise of the night. A really well designed show, lots of great musical and visual impacts, and like Jon said, at this rate they'll be a finalist soon. I've liked their shows before, but tonight was a huge step up for them! Keep it going PC!

I loved Phantom's show, but the pre-show synthesized sound effects were SO loud that the first horn impact seemed soft by comparison. To me it really took away from their great opening.

And yes, Bluecoats horns and drums were definitely on fire, but like you stated, the final bodysuit 'word' effect wasn't very visible.

What a great, responsive crowd as usual here. It's nice to see lots of standing O's (and well-deserved ones!)!!!

  2. If you're around Akron for the show, here are the housing sites for the corps. Most of the corps will be at their site for two days, except for Blue Stars, who will be in town one day.

    Bluecoats- Firestone HS (Akron)

    Blue Stars- Tallmadge HS (Akron)

Cadets- Perry HS (Perry, Lake Co.)

    Cavaliers- Orrville MS (Orrville)

    Crown- Fairless MS (Navarre)

    Phantom- Nordonia HS (Macedonia)

It should be an amazing show in an incredible stadium!

  3. Great review! I'm not sure I agree with your assessment of Crown, saying their identity involves using popular music. Last year's show and the "Grass" year certainly didn't have any pop tunes, and I think they've really done a great job at keeping everyone offguard by creating almost a new persona every year. This year's show certainly doesn't compare to last year's very serious one, which I think is great. It keeps us all guessing what they might do next year! Could be Stravinsky or it could be Led Zeppelin... (-:
