  1. The guy whistling was having major pitch troubles, especially as he whistled in the lower range. The fast vibrato didn't help matters....
  2. Thanks guys for great reviews! I was there as well and won't rehash, but add a couple things that stuck out to me: Boston: This was probably my favorite show tonight! A great visual look (the uniforms and those opening flags look amazing under the lights!) and lots of beautiful moments. The marching on the 1812 company front was incredibly well done and effective! Keep going BAC! (Edit at 11:50 a.m.: Almost forgot.... the field-entering whistling was painful. Hopefully there's a change in this coming soon...) Bluecoats: They were definitely ON tonight. The intensity was great, and I think once they continue to clean and add, this show will be their best ever. There's so much growth potential! Definitely a show to watch out for by season's end! Crown: Awesome opening, ho-hum ending (and I personally love the Emerson Piano Concerto #1!). It just felt that after all the 'bling' of the first half, the second half was subdued. Some amazing marching tonight! Madison: Another great show, picking right up from last year's crowd-pleaser. Not sure I really picked up on the 9-11 references I had read about so much on here. Drill is definitely a step up from last year. Spirit: Much improved! Some very cool moments, though marching seems to be lagging behind the other areas. Seemed like lots of spacing issues. The horn line definitely packs a punch! Crossmen: Loved it...brought back lots of old Crossmen/Metheny memories. Some really nice grooves happening. Seemed like all the playing was in your face, so was hoping for some more backfield playing to balance those louder moments. This is a great drum corps venue!
  3. Housing sites for Akron are: Spirit- Fairless HS Boston- Southeast HS Pioneer- Orrville HS Crossmen- Tallmadge HS Crown- Copley HS Madison- Woodridge HS I believe both Platinum and Legends are at Firestone HS and that Bluecoats are in Infocision today Go watch your favorite corps rehearse!
  4. You were amazing all season long! Loved the solo, the synth effects, and your great playing! Congrats on a great season! Thanks for posting the solo...
  5. It was an amazing season for the Bloooooooo! Loved the show and the dedication of all the members and staff! Congrats!
  6. Why is coming up with a new idea depressing? Isn't it worth a shot to try something new? Don't people now admire Star for trying 'drum corps on stage' and creating something new and exciting many years ago? Shouldn't the 'depressing' part come from DCI running the ticket special with the $25 gas card trying to get people to buy finals tickets? To me that's a pretty strong signal that ticket sales are lagging again. Something needs to change! And about the continued claims about elitism, one only has to read many of the reviews on here when people start their review with "I missed the first four corps....sorry" to see that many people do get there for the top corps. Just look at how the crowd fills in this week in Indy and you'll see it happen. They're not making that up. I, for one, sit through everyone and love them all, but many people show up after the last break. It's also funny that so many on these forums complain about the current state of DCI, but once someone comes up with a new idea, they hate it. Hmmmm... I say let's try it and see what happens! It might work. It might not. Only after trying it for a summer will we all know.
  7. Just got home from the show....awesome, huge crowd, and great reactions for every corps! Lots of standing O's! Bluecoats were amazing, Cadets were incredible, Madison was great, and Sprit was definitely "on" tonight. Every corps did well, feeding off the energy of the crowd. Go Bloooooo!

  10. These posts are making me thirsty...bring on the Hoegaarden!
  11. Anyone have a couple extra World Class semifinal tickets for Indy they need to unload? Let me know. Need 2. Thanks!
  12. Too bad LeBron can't just make his announcement at the show. Imagine the attendance and the TV coverage....lol
  13. Who's coming to enjoy the great lineup at Friday's Akron show? It's at the new and beautiful Infocision Stadium on the Akron U. campus! Bluecoats Crown Cavaliers Phantom Boston Madison Spirit 7:00 p.m. Infocision Stadium, University of Akron
  14. I was there in person, and for as loud as that crowd was during the whole game, the whole place was hyped on overdrive. It was impossible to hear the band by the end of Script. Also, the loud crowd totally drowned out the Trojan pep band that was there, negating any effect of that incessant trojan motive that you normally have to hear 6,000 times per game. A blessing.... (-:
  15. Hey, it's still better than having to call that 1-900 scores number to get scores like we used to have to do. I'll take a wrong posting once in awhile in return for recaps and scores going up pretty darned fast. God knows how many people screw up posts on here. Give DCI a break for a few goofs too.
  16. WOW....awesome shots! Thanks for sharing your great eye of great images!
  17. you can thank my friend who called me from Lucas Oil while scores were being announced! i was hoping Crown or Cadets could pull off the upset, but i'm glad Bluecoats stayed in the top 6!

  19. I have one great (sect. 640, 50 yd. line) for Quarters on sale at cost. It's a friend's who can't attend, so you're stuck with me next to you. $45 and it's yours! Edit: It's gone. (-:
  20. Wow...I'm an idiot. Just realized I spelled "Massillon" wrong in the topic title (and I can't find how to edit that part). Stupid, stupid, stupid.... Sorry to all the Tiger fans!
  21. Just some quick thoughts here on last night's ever-awesome Massillon/Pro Football Hall of Fame show. Again, a great stadium, a great crowd, and beautiful weather made for a perfect evening. Jersey Surf: loved 'em in D2, and am very happy to see them in World Class! They're off to a great start and I like their show alot! Mandarins: not an air mattress in sight. lol. Horns sounded good, but seemed to tire out at end. Guard had some nice things happening, and the huge flags at the end got lots of 'oooooh's' from people around! Troopers: liked the show lots! Guard is definitely very, very strong, and the whole package works well. Can't wait to see this again in Indy. Crossmen: dark, yes, but pretty cool! Loved the Evanescence tune in the middle. Spirit: the show's cleaning up well and everything is getting much stronger! I think they were having some synth issues? Boston: a great overall show. Horns continue to produce and the guard continues to draw you in! Blue Stars: lots of great moments, but the show seemed cluttered, and with all the clutter, the rest of the drill seemed trapped in the partial right side. Wish the tables would disappear so they could have lots of great field coverage like last year. I was surprised to see their guard on top in the recap since they were having lots of drops and tangled flag issues. Bluecoats: the show continues to evolve and improve, and the horns and drums were smokin' tonight! The ending is much stronger and the closing drill is impressive. Guard had a great night as well! The sound of the corps for the encore was nothing short of WOW! Should be a great week in Indy!
  22. I've got a great seat for quarterfinals (sect. 640, row 4) and semi's (sect 342, row 4) available at cost, as a friend can't attend this weekend. If interested, contact me: bandbuck@aol.com. Thanks!
