I have not read through the (now) 18 additional pages yet, so if someone else beat me to this point, my apologies... When I consider "auditioning students" versus "casting performers", this is why I roll my eyes at the phrase "casting performers": performers are paid, students pay.

There was a theater thing? Got zero hype down here in Georgia that I'm aware of. Live performances? If you're south of the Mason/Dixon line, and east of the Mississippi, you're shut out. For myself, it is a bare minimum 10-hour drive to anything this year. 2022 isn't that far away, I guess.

I hate to play the role of Captain Obvious, but...... ... isn't that the way it's supposed to be?

This reminds of a vignette from the 1988 (?) DCI broadcast about Ted Swaldo (we'll see how good my memory is), who was the Bluecoats corps director through their ascent to finally reaching the coveted Top 12 in 1987. I remember him remarking how he was there focused purely on the business aspects (as that was his expertise), while the creative staff addressed the show. "I don't even hum," he jokingly said. Business guy running the business.

We actually had some champagne on the field in Syracuse (DCA) during retreat. They weren't very happy about that...

I haven't been to a show in... 2 years? 3 maybe? (Haven't posted here in even longer, I'd wager). Wait, there was one show in Ft. Walton Beach last summer. Anywho, my interest and enjoyment has waned a lot - and proposals like this will only ensure my continued apathy. I could spend a lot of time and energy debating woodwinds... or amplification... or any number of other game-changers that have come... and stayed... or weren't adopted... or have gone. /sigh The expenditure, however, will not rekindle (pun intended - see above post) my love.
