  1. THis is so great all the new people joining us and the talent we have on our staff now!!.. These two weekends will be sure to get the drum corps blood pumping... as well as the cold weather when we march twice in the Schenectady Parade... LOL.. See you all on the 18th and the big camp weekend, anyone from the berkshires needing a ride contact me Annette at hairnet38@verizon.net.
  2. I would like to second that BIG HUGE THANK YOU to all the new Caption Heads and Especially Joey Pero. We are probably the luckiest corps to have him as our arranger and Horn instructor. This sundays camp will be sure to be educational as well as inspiring to all those who are joining us for the day. The buzz word from the members has been "WOW" Joey has brought out a sound in our corps that is chilling and emotional at best. The staff for this year seems so on track with the show and working together it is giving the members a sence of SUCCESS!!! They are all driven and as excited as we are to put this show together. Thank you to Donel for taking so much time in Hiring the best staff for EXCELSIOR!!. Hope to see all the new faces at camp next weekend.!! Annette Melephone player EXCELSIOR
  3. This is such a great opportunity to have such talent teaching the young and old musicians of the world. I always enjoy when Joey comes and instructs our horn line as we have improved 10 fold and will continue to grow and build with his expertise. Its great to be a member of Excelsior Drum and Bugle corps at this time !! Keep watching for further announcments the big one is yet to come!!!
  4. Hi all, Be on the look out for our announcment of the staff and show for 2008. We are very excited to have so much talent to help get our new show up and running. There are so many excellent Drum corps out there that we look up to and want to be as entertaining as all of them, the staff is committed to bringing just that to the field for our First time in the 4 years of our existance. thank you Annette Assistant Director of Operations Excelsior Drum and Bugle Corps.
  5. I was only wondering becasue all the facilites I have contacted seem to be very high priced and I was wondering if they are actually in the ball park thats is the only reason I questioned what fees are being charged to other corps in the north eastern area .
  6. I am one of the excelsior drum corps members and I can tell you we are very excited to finally be able to step into the arena with all the corps we have enjoyed watching through the years. We are all in this for the same reason to entertain and try to be the best at what we do... so stay tune or jump on board with excelsior for the presentation of ROBIN HOOD!!.. good luck to us all.
  7. Go A head and try everyone has to start somewhere, We did MCA this year and it was interesting to get the critiquing to see where needed to focus for DCA competition. Be positive and GO FOR IT!! Annette Ad of Op of Excelsior Drum and Bugle Corps.
  8. Welcome Matt, Have you ever thought about DCA all age drum corp. If you live in the Albany area or BErkshires Mass Excelsior Drum and Bugle corp would love to have you. I also play melephone and WE NEED MORE. we are putting on ROBIN HOOD this year very exciting and would love to haveryone we can (up to 65) members join us. It sounds like you have alot of great playing experience so you would fit in with any corps and DCA corps usually do not have try outs. You join and play your heart out!!. thanks Annette
  9. It is a very good question and people who are rude about things and say its none of anyones business obviously forgot what it is like to get drum corps up and running. I think getting an understanding of a price range so corps do not get over charged is reasonable. The money that gets paid is worth it for the quality of music and the time and effort that gets put into arranging, teaching, etc. The bigger corps have more money to pay for more experienced trainers, arrangers, instructors, etc. THose people who are looking at this to obtain a part time job fee for doing a hobbie are the ones you have to watch out for. I do not think there is one corps out there who does not understand what goes into production whether for shows or parades it all takes time and talent. Good luck finding your answer Azeuph, many of us would like to know but are afraid to ask.
  10. Thank you and also a big Thank you to Dick Pronti for all his hard work and quick repsonces to take care of when Barbara took ill. We hope she is doing well..
  11. yes you are lucky and good luck to the new corps.
  12. Can any of the drum corps out there give me any Ideas about where you usually conduct your camp weekends and an average price you pay to rent the facilities you use? Thank you, very much appreicated for any direction that can be given.
  13. As a first timer for myslef being in the Mini-corps competition it was exciting and frustrating for how hard we worked all summer long and we played better then we ever had but still it wasn't quite as good as some of the other corps who were there and had been returning members. I found it interesting that some corps were dressed in a very casual style and didn't seem to have any special or uniform way to get on or off the stage and yet We as Excelsior tried to make every effort to perfect the little things that seemed regimented. We had to start somewhere and I am glad we participated in MCA so we can have some guidleines to go forth with as we prepare our show for 2008. I noticed after n ot having been in drum corp over the last 20 years it has become more of a theater presentation using props and story lines. It makes things much more interesting to the audience. Star united defintly was the greatest and an enjoyable show. They were all enjoyable but I could have watched them three times in a row and still been wowed. If i had to give any comments to improve for next year it would be that signs be better placed to direct corps where to set up and park and where the entrance and exit would be especially if they change venues. Well Nice job to all the other 17 corps, you have some tough shoes for us to fill. I apologize for any typing errors it does not reflect the drum corp I am associated with just my poor typing skills.
  14. I am excited to be the Assitant Director of Operations and assist the Excelsior drum corp with all we are about to do not only with our NEW competion show but our PAcific USO parade theme. We have lots of good things coming down the line for all the doubting thomas which I have currently read about who do not believe what we are about to do so soon into our birth as adrum corp. we have a lot of good musicians and maybe we are not Proffesional musicians b y trade, but as a hobbiest we have what it takes DETERMINATION, DRIVE AND COMMITMENT From all of our members from our DIRECTOR on down to the HONOR GUARD leader. The show we put on will be one that will be belivable and the audience will know what is happening as the story we tell unfolds.. so stay tune. get on board, we are embarking on the NEWNESS of the THeater in DRUM CORPS>> have a great night..
