  1. That would have been great. They played Michael Giacchino’s Lost in what, 2014? I don’t mind the ballad this year and the effect of it is cool, but Letting Go would have been a nice piece. I’m sure there is a reason for the piece picked this year, we just don’t know the full concept yet.
  2. I hope they don't lose their arranger or brass lead. To me, they are responsible for the signature Crown sound and would be a huge loss. While the song choices may not have been everyone's favorite, there is no question they created masterpieces out of the source music.
  3. Big brass content score for CC. Really they are even closer - One judge put some distance between them.
  4. It was pretty amazing. The crowd knew what they had in store to debut and they delivered. Loved BD that year too but still think Crown should have been champs. Funny how I didn't like that show until the latter part of the year and now it's one of my favorites.
  5. Whiles it's fractions of a point, seems a little off for Carolina to be 4th in music. Perhaps that the percussion score?
  6. Everything seems to start later and later each year so perhaps starting a bit earlier although That might be difficult with school schedules. But I agree, a week for each corps to do what they want to do to clean and surprise would make championship week very exciting and refreshing.
  7. Some good ones here. My most impactful spectator moment was 2003 and Carolina's Bellissimo. I didn't have any feelings towards them ten years prior but I remember being blasted in the face with a deep, rich sound that has become the norm for them ever since. The guard was really good that year and I feel that was the year their climb to what they are today really began. I also would like to say I preferred 1995 BD to 1994's championship (so many good shows that year). And I'd like to add 1990 Star's Belshazzar's Feast. We haven't seen that source music much since so it really stands out to me. Finally, any corps in 1992 as that was my favorite year in DCI. From the Freelancers to the Cavaliers so many great shows that were great for that time.
  8. Who cares? It's June. These scores do not matter right now. Let them judge what's there as to what's not.
  9. The GE 1 caption judges had them in third too. That was a blow to their victory that seemed a little off. We know their percussion is an issue but surprised two judges had them third for GE.
  10. That was the most lifeless awards ceremony I've ever seen. Just took the air out of the building when Crown got second. Blue Devils are just so good. What they did last year was great for the activity - look what it yielded this year, but there does need to be some parity so to keep audiences coming.just seemed no one did tonight. Just wasn't a friendly judging crew for Crown tonight but the top 4 was awesome. Surprised they all scored so low this year.
  11. I don't think so. Hasn't Carolina beaten them every since Atlanta (or earlier) when they had white pants?
  12. If the Blue Devils stay in fourth tonight (highly unlikely), they won't win Saturday. This will have to be the most intense performance they give all summer and I imagine they'll be rewarded for it. Were they ever even third at any point this season? That's just a huge shock.
  13. There are enough allusions to 9, that the source material can work, it is the presentation of it that doesn't work. . It's too hippity. A brooding or more bold Ode to Joy would work much more than the light fluff that is there now.
  14. Can't imagine they can replace the whole closer this late. But a totally different closer would have catapulted this show into top 2. Especially if it just scored 3rd.
  15. It's the Cadets year. Won't be close by the end of the season. They still have the most work to polish and are on top now.
