  8. Hey Mayra and the VK Family, do Incognito and the West Coast a favor, HAVE SOME FUN!!! Perform for yourselves and the audience, that is why we're here right? Congratulations on your success!!! Incognitus
  9. I didn't know that was the case. The music is all original music and all paperwork has been turned in. It might be a typo or something. Our show has changed since the Walnut show. Thank you for letting us know about the music rights.
  10. Hello drum corps fans, On behalf of Incognito, we would like to thank everyone for giving us the opportunities to perform on the field. This inaugural season has been a memorable one. With two shows left this weekend at Gilroy and Fremont, we hope to provide the best performances we can and hoping to earn some respect before our season comes to a close. Thank you again. -Incognitus
  11. What a process leading up to touching that field on Saturday. I want to say thank you to all for understanding about first time jitters. There were times in the show I said to myself, "NOOOOO we never missed that part during rehearsal!?" but then I was really happy because they were on the field and was able to get through the show. The best thing about his experience is the love and support from other corps. Some would think there's no love between corps. This is not true. I met a lot of the staff members and they took the time to come over to say "nice show" and so on. They had a lot of class and it makes all the difference in the world. VK rocks because the ENTIRE staff and Corps director have been supportive behind the scenes and without their love for this sport, my experience as a corps director would not have been so memorable on Saturday. People say that the corps members are the reflection of the staff and program and this held true on Saturday. The VK members came up to my members and talked, shared stories, and congratulated each other like how friends are suppose to be. This is classy and that is how I love our corps to be. No matter if we fall on our faces or if we succeed to the top, we are all in this together and we won't bail. Have a great season corps, and to the fans, come and watch, give Incognito a chance to earn your respect! -Incognitus
  12. Yea ED! Congrats. See you around this summer!
  13. Well I guess it's "get to know your new corps" time. Incognito started with indoor percussion in 2005-2006 and this year with winter guard. The performers all wear masks during performances because of what we believe in. We want audience members to focus on the music and performance instead of "who's marching or who's on staff." Music is the basis of why we are doing what we do. With that in mind, all members are required to have an "Incognito" name. The name can be something that existed from history or they can make one up. No matter what it is, it has to have meaning. The rules are simple. All male names must end in "us" or "ius". Female names must end in "a" or "ia". So my Incognito name is Incognitus because I am the founder or Incognito, it was an easy name for me. If you're hobby is drumming, your name could be "Drummus" or "Drummius". If you're a female and you love pirate stuff and music.... you're name could be "Arrria." The point is, we all have Incognito names because we are someone else during our performances and we function as a family, we would prefer not having people say, "oh so and so is going to march with them, that means they're gonna be good or suck wind." Lol. Plus its really fun. How often do we get to be someone else or play a character. In keeping with our goals as Incognito, all music is original. From the indoor percussion group, winter guard, and drum corps. We are trying to give our members a chance to create and design shows for other groups but also within Incognito. Example, this year's winter guard show was an original of mine and we got the members of Incognito to record it in the studios. So when the members were performing, they were performing to their own works. The staff at Incognito are all friends and alumnus. We all have our little recognitions here and there but nothing on a grand scale. We do it for the love of music and the chance to give others opportunities. If we are able to give someone a chance to perform and learn life's responsibilities, we are doing our job. The entire Incognito program is all volunteer based. The music, drill, and instruction are free. The money is used on the members and new instruments. Incognito is a part of The Music Life Foundation. www.themusiclife.org Let's talk about our concept for shows. By the way, I hope I'm not wasting anybody's time. Since we are a new corps we want to earn your respect and hope we would get more support from the drum corps world. As for our shows, this is our main thing. All shows from year to year will have masks and it will change depending on concept or theme. We are starting out this year with World of Incognitians. Whatever our last set will be, next years opening set will start where we left off with that mask. Then through the show, we will transition into a new mask. Wherever we end that year, we will continue next season where we left off with those masks. Our story continues over years instead of just one season to promote tradition and to remind ourselves to never forget where we came from. I want the members to remember their teachers that taught them how to play that instrument or how to spin that flag and to pass on the knowledge for future performers. We would not be here if someone didn't take the time to teach us. With this thought, we want to leave legacies whether if its on a tiny scale or grand. Incognito may be in disguise but hopefully we can win drum corps fans with class and respect for this sport of the arts. Thank you again, and yes I know, we can't please everyone but we are just wanting to take part in keeping music alive. Incognitus
  14. Hello everyone. I have to say these are exciting times for all of us at Incognito. We love hearing the support from all of you. The staff at Drum Corps International and many corps directors out there have been amazing. I just wanted to say thank you. Now for all you die hard drum corps fans: I have a fun question. Please answer without mentioning corps names. What makes a great open class show for as a spectator visually and musically? I hope you guys take the time out to answer this. I'm very curious as a designer. Thank you again! -Incognitus
