  1. You're deflecting (coincidental, if you're fully aware of the situation) - you mentioned that it's a study in "can your drum corps buy you success" and I think the choices had a lot less to do with the money. Those other factors will have a much bigger impact on BAC's success.
  2. There's a lot more than money that drives people to want to try something new.
  3. Not sure which is more esoteric - today's activity, or your post. The activity is becoming more culturally relevant and growing year-over-year, it seems. I'd say they're doing things the right way at this point.
  4. He was fun and didn't take life too, too seriously on tour. Was nice having him around, particularly on regional days - even as a non-drummer.
  5. Lee Beddis' vibe is good for the whole corps.
  6. Not being facetious, but how much time did Bocook spend with Cadets?
  7. Heaven(s) and Hell... Cowboys and... Indians. Presenting their 2017 production, The Brave New World....
  8. If you flip Crown/BD Guard scores for Finals (which would be similar to Prelims, if I'm reading right), they wedges them into second (and probably puts them first in your scenario).
  9. DCI accomplished its 2016 mission with the recap game, no question. Take ten minutes and look at each recap back through Allentown. It's nuts.
  10. Prevents one guy from handing a caption trophy to someone. For example, Guard tonight vs. the past two nights were VERY different stories (and that's if you totally ignore the performances).
  11. Just looked at all three detailed recaps. Blue Devils won Visual each night. Am I missing something? Ahhh, it's based on Proficiency only. Don't mind me.
  12. I have been wondering for the better part of this week if we would see a champion crowned without a "performance" caption. Seems somewhat likely...
  13. A little behind, but I'm a very proud alum. Great show. We have dreamed of this team playing Medea for years, and it was done differently than we expected, but was no less inspiring than we could have hoped for.
  14. It's the magic of GE, and that they seem to perform at a higher level than many of the corps around them, too.
  15. The field drum judge is a "recent" Crown age out (within the last ~10 years).
  16. Love the tag that has been used repeatedly (the old Trio ending chord sequence), but like this ending MUCH more.
  17. Re-watched a couple times. Like this vehicle just as much as last years, which places it among 2013 and 2009 for me. We will see if the performance excellence grows to match, but based on the level of talent, I have few doubts. Love the opening, Roxanne, The Trio and the reprise. Can't wait to see the additions and the cleaning process take hold.
  18. Anyone get a video of the encore? They played the Disney "Fly" medley by the Voices of Liberty group's side project.
  19. Michael Klesch is, uh, really good at arranging, and stuff.
  20. It may not have made a difference - BD jumped a half a point in that caption alone over the course of Prelims > Semis > Finals.
  21. GE 1, Brass, Guard, Visual Analysis, Music Analysis. Those are the most interesting numbers from night to night. The rest seemed at least fairly comparable.
  22. Hasn't this been going on for like 30 years, too? They've got it down better than anyone else.
  23. I've got a fun story to tell you about "Correction, we have a correction..." sometime. Every fan base has some folks that act out in the heat of the moment. Don't let that taint your perception of the organization - it hasn't for me.
