  1. Yes she is using physics, and I understand the point. However considering many college bands never play in tune, an 80-90 top tier brass line will out play them any day of the week for the simple fact that they sound as one continuous sound.
  2. So I was sitting in my girlfriends dorm room today, playing some SCV videos, when I made a comment "Its amazing how 80 people can sound louder than large college bands when all you have to do is play in tune". My girlfriend replied "Well they probably aren't as loud, but they are definitely loud." Here was the following conversation... Me - "You're kidding right...most college bands can't play in tune, thus will never match the sheer volume in sound that top tier drum corps produce." Her - "My physics background tells me otherwise." Me - "....Is this a joke?" Her - "I am serious, the volume of sound is less than that of a college band." Am I missing something? Or does she have a point? I know that for a fact top tier drum corps sound louder in brass than most college bands so I am trying not to get into an argument. Can anybody give their opinions? Or facts would be great.
  3. I remember me coming home after my age-out year and taking a shower by myself, and trying to resist the strong urge to call a buddy of mine while I was showering because I felt uncomfortable by myself
  4. I don't think you are understanding what I was saying. I'm not trying to "convince" someone to march, I am just trying to have them understand that they have the rest of their life to make money in this world, however so little time to perform (which is what they love to do). Its more of a thing of how many people are in such a rush in today's world to get out there into the real thick of it, rather than enjoying the limited amount of time you have to actually "live".
  5. This has always been my point exactly. When I aged-out I had about $500 in my bank account, and I honestly don't regret one second of it. Sure I am behind in school now, and many of my friends have graduated while I still have 1-2 years to go thanks to drum corps, but I have had a life experience that very few people have had in this world. That in of itself is more important than anything.
  6. So I know that this thread has been done before, but after such an awesome year I believe it needs to be done again. I know that myself as well as many of you have put your life on hold when doing drum corps, and were lucky enough to age-out with the corps that you loved. However for those of you who chose/were not able to march your age-out do you regret it? The reason I ask this is because I have a very good friend who ages out next year, and they want basically get on with their life even though they love the activity, and there seems to be nothing I can say to let them realize they are making a mistake. So what do you think?
  7. I talked to a friend of mine in BD, he says this was basically a big lie. People are sick yes, but there is no H1N1. You can rest easy now
  8. They still do that today and when I marched as well, starting from the warm-up area all the way to the stadium. It was honestly the biggest hype I would get pre-show...brings back memories
