  1. You make good points. I'm just frustrated, that's all. I had higher expectations for this season.
  2. A week and half before the first regional and considering the condition, status, and rank of the Blue Stars pecussion caption; I think they should just ride out the rest of the season with who they have on the field. It s**ks; but how are they going to find exceptionally talented individuals to learn the entire show and fit in like they were there since audition camps? This is the Blue Stars percussion we're talking about; not the Blue Devils. Finding talent is a struggle the way it is for their drumline.
  3. Well, at least people are finally talking about the Blue Stars. I thought they fell off the radar for the season while just treading water in 9th place. I have no problem with the concept. They had an idea, built a show around that idea, and it's not scoring and placing as many had hoped. They took a creative risk that's, currently, setting them back. Again, I had high hopes they would be able to capitalize on their 7th place finish with a 5th or 6th place finish, this year, and it's looking like 7th or 8th might even be difficult to attain.
  4. The only credit I'll give DieNasty is that their snares actually look like snares and not a Remo Legato knock off like they did years ago.
  5. DieNasty Drums. They've always sounded like crap; even with those awesome beats Rennick writes.
  6. The Blue Stars could use his talents more than Phantom Regiment...he would have to ditch his inferior drum company, though.
  7. Not throwing in the towel; but they have a lot of work to do if they don't want to fall to 9th place. This season is starting to remind me of 2011.
  8. I think it's more a case of the Blue Stars being overestimated, this year. I had very high hopes for them and they aren't really clicking in any of the captions. GE and Vis aren't all that great, their hornline is taking a hit, score wise, now, and their percussion has been an ongoing issue. They took a creative risk, this year, and for a variety of reasons it's just not working.
  9. Good grief...Blue Stars music captions. What in the h**l is going on? It's too early to hit the panic button on this season, so I'll hit the concerned button.
  10. Even with a shorter touring season, there is no escape from the annual drum corps plague. 🤮
  11. The Minnesota state bird has always liked Whitewater.
  12. Hard truth and reality. I enjoy their show; unfortunately, it's just not "it" enough to take that next step up to 6th or 5th. Once again, they find themselves just treading water in the middle of the Top 12. They still haven't fully figured out the GE caption along with proper editing of a show. I also know that they are typically an August corps; but if they want to take that next jump up in the ranks, they need to come out with a more refined show out of the gates that will sustain for the long haul and will be easier to clean. On a positive note, the Blue Stars are masters at using the entire field; something that has kind of gone away with modern drill design. Kevin Ford writes amazing drill for the corps. Hopefully, one of these years they will be a Top 5 corps, again. I would be very happy to see the Blue Stars place 5th and if that's their peak in the Top 12 I would be quite satisfied. ...on a final note, at least they are still in the Top 12 and are not in any immediate danger of falling out any time soon.
  13. I know this is the first year for the new percussion staff at The Blue Stars; but yeeeeesh! That caption is definitely their achilles heel and has been for a number of years, now.
  14. This. I drank the Kool-Aid thinking they would be able to capitalize on their 7th place finish, last year, with a show and corps that would be challenging for 6th or maybe 5th place, this year. GE and another weak percussion section seem to be holding them back.
  15. Curious. Was Genesis struggling or going through a rough time?
  16. Is that a picture of Genesis? They look small by world class standards.
  17. Did the football team get their annual reminder not to run through the drum corps on the field?
  18. Oh, I wouldn't be so sure of that. There's a corps from La Crosse, WI who never slept on the Mandarins during their Class A/A-60 and Div II and III years together.
  19. So far the substance doesn't have too much appeal and it's not coming across as top shelf.
  20. They have to be with the current length of the season. Corps have to be almost regional ready, now, out of the gates.
