  1. Heading to the lone star state with my big bro. We head down every summer for the Texas swing. It's hot and a part of tour that we like to lend our support to the kids. Plenty of ice, gatorade and treats for the kids. We love Crusader stadium and the corps has a great relationship with Mary Hardin University. 3 days in the stadium, sleeping in air-conditioned dorms, ice machine delivered for the week, special Board & Alumni shaved ice event after the show tonight, a Texas sized BBQ put on by the families of members from Texas tomorrow, and then on to a 4th place seeding in the Alamo Dome. Have not seen them live since Florida - Burn Em Up Boston!
  2. July 16th, 2017 - We are on plan! No hype - just excitement about our Corps. Organization is strong and healthy in all ways. Leadership and staff are doing well and signed to long term contracts. Members are experienced and working hard, delivering consistent superior performances and being rewarded for it by the audience and judges. Corps is touring well, eating well and the pace of tour has been great. Scoring and seeded in the top 6 and competing with the top, major turnaround from previous seasons. Looking forward to finishing strong and positioning ourselves for the future. No hype, just excitement about our Corps. July 16, 2017 looks and feels a lot better than July 16, 2016. We are on plan!
  3. Sounds like BAC had a great run, standing O according to our souvie folks.
  4. Show was delayed 15 minutes after intermission due to Cadets bus problems.
  5. Currently in Florida looking forward to tonight's show. I am pretty sure that everyone was dealing with terrible Thunder storms with heavy downpours. This is like a home show for BAC. 20 years ago we made Florida another home. Many individuals from this area have made a huge difference in the trajectory of the corps during that time. So looking forward to a big fan base tonight. Another reason to be excited is it is the first show that BAC will be going on later in the evening and closer to their competition. Very pleased with how things have come together to put the us in this position. Years of building a strong organization financially and otherwise, hiring a great leader in Chris Holland, attracting and hiring a top staff and having high member retention are all playing a part. With respect to the other corps competing tonight, it's only a matter of time that one or maybe two judges start to make a call. The program design and performance is solidly there to compete with the top 6. #BuildingAChampion the new BAC
  6. Not bad for BAC tonight. On early in the sunlight and about two hours in between them and the other 3. Spirit 65.2 then up almost 10 points to BAC at 74.45. Two hours later The Cavies 76.9. Cadets 76.7 and then Crown at 79.2. Not bad for two different shows at the same venue. Tomorrow night back to back with the Cadets.
  7. Tough draw tonight, before intermission and with the sun still out. Burn em up Boston!
  8. Pay attention to BAC facebook page as they have been live streaming from events this season, Maybe a glimpse from warmups?
  9. Happy first show for the #WickedWitchoftheEast team! Lot's of talk and speculation, here's what we know about BAC going into tonight: We have certainly shifted the dialogue about Boston since the last performance of 2016. Organization is stronger, leadership is more experienced, the new staff is in place and working well together and we have a strong veteran based Corps. The offseason was excellent from all aspects, show design process/execution and teaching was up significantly - at a very high competitive level. Tryouts were demanding and the bar was raised significantly. The members prepared well over the winter. Spring Training was the best ever across the board. The show has been done for well over a week and ensemble rehearsals have been excellent. The fans tonight will be entertained and see/ hear a full show with uniforms, props, and show silks. What happens tonight has nothing to do with luck, it's all been carefully planned and well executed to date. All the best to the kids tonight, do your job!
  10. Concert in the Park at 5:00! Should be a great night for the organization. Performances by all performing groups including the Boston Crusaders, Hyde Park Percussion and Brass ensembles and Blessed Sac. Mayor Walsh receiving the Inspire Arts & Music Champion Award. Reception for sponsors at the Langham hotel to follow. Biggest showcase and fundraiser of the year. Mainstream the organization. Already the 4th annual. I predicted when we started this would become a $500,000 annual event, let's see how we do.

  15. I can tie the G7 and this topic together: When a group of elite members basically tell the rest of the activity that they are irrelevant, it is a wake up call. It was a new twist on survival. Rather than a risk averse attitude with a focus on staying afloat, it turned into a new focus on building a champion organization. With the threat of being eliminated from competition and performance fees, it became a quest for diversified revenues. It took a group of business professionals to approach a non profit like we approached our businesses. I offer these thoughts: Grow the size of the Board - it can't come down to the same group of 6-8 people. Remind everyone of the 2 purposes of the Board - governance and most important fund raising. Create a give/get level so that you are guaranteed some capital. Find areas to invest in that can return dividends to the non profit. Find groups to partner with that extend the impact of the non profit. Solicit Companies to help increase capital and grow programs. This also helps focus on the satisfaction of helping kids and the community, not just the competitive aspect of the activity. Share what you do with the rest of the activity, for the good of the activity via a Board Consortium. So thank you G7 for the wake up call and inspiration.
  16. Two corps got together and decided to not participate in another member corps show with the direct intent to hurt that Corps. Just so we are clear. It's not as simple as what you say.
  17. Corpsband has been in this activity for a long time and a part of both Cadets and Crown organizations. He is reputable and a business man. it is disappointing to make this appear like Boston is winning about corps not going to their party. The reality is that this would not happen in most legit organizations (MLB, NBA etc.) This is the equivalent to Carolina Panthers refusing to play the Seahawks this year because of what happened at the Super Bowl last year. Or Oklahoma Thunder refusing to play Golden State because Kevin Durant went their in free agency. The reality is these Corps do not want to see any of the lower top 12 Corps threaten the model. DCI does not decide for or make any corps participate in any shows. They try to mediate for the good of the activity. It is what it is.
  18. Unfortunately it is the truth, Crown and The Cadets refused to perform at Boston's show. I know it first hand.
  19. Unfortunately it is the truth, Crown and The Cadets refused to perform at Boston's show. I know it first hand.
  20. Tesmusic, unfortunately I speak the truth. I am more than a Super Fan. I bleed red & black and have been a part of BAC for the past 38 years.
  21. Also, Audition season is going well as expected and planned. Attendance in Boston and Tampa were very strong with returning veterans and new recruits mostly college age and experienced. Dallas next week will be strong especially for percussion ( a solid base over the past few years) and a big tie to UNT percussion program. December will be an actual camp with almost all of the brash and percussion spots contracted and show music will be performed. The level of planning and preparation by the administration, operations and all captions is up significantly.
  22. As for the early season shows, the facts are that the Cadets and Crown refused to perform at Boston's show. Call it what you want. It is what it is. We will do everything we can to add performances for our Boston/New England fans early season.
  23. The schedule did not work for Tanglewood this season. It will be back.
  24. The facts are that the Cadets and Crown refused to perform at Boston's show. Call it what you want. It is what it is.
