  2. ROCKIN FOR A CURE 2008 MADISON SCOUTS ALUMNI - Benefit for ALS The Coliseum Bar Banquet Room 232 Olin Avenue Madison, WI 53713 April 26th, 2008 One of the most inspired drum corps alumni events anywhere is the annual Madison Scouts “Rockin’ for a Cure,” now in its 8th year. This gathering not only brings together corps alumni, corps fans and other supporters for a great time of music and camaraderie, the event is a benefit for ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease). In 1999, former corps member and Scouts’ instructor Steve Weekes was stricken with ALS. He founded the event on behalf of ALS research. Sadly, Steve passed away in 2005. However, his mission continues on, stronger than ever. The ticket donation is only $20 and there’s a cash bar, appetizers, and over $8,000 in silent auction items– with tons of drum corps stuff donated by several corps. In addition, three bands playing swing, jazz, R & B, and funk will provide music for the 6-hour event! But wait, there’s more! The "Scouts Powerhouse of Alumni" is a band of Madison Scouts soloists and instructors performing songs from Earth, Wind and Fire, Tower of Power, the Average White Band, etc. Don't miss this great event - Always provides great fun! Starts at 6:30 p.m. For more details, please call or email Mike Anello at 414-483-1510, or visit the event website at www.rockinforacure.org
