  1. Here is the idea, everyone that plays now is going to get older, when they do, they will get tired of doing shows, all the work etc. Alumni type Corps will or should offer the opportunity for these "older" people to play and enjoy drum corps. Nothing too hard, but still gives you that feeling you get when people enjoy your performance. As long as that happens, and people still get a little older and still want to perform, there will be venues for them called Alumni or whatever!!
  2. We have some new and old younger members, and are seeking more. I think you get people to join by showing them how much fun it is. Hell, one of our music instructors is 26 or so. We are an all age corps, the name Alumni just means, we are the former members of some corps or another, most of us anyways. I agree young members are the key, to go along with the older ones.
  3. I have played in an Alumni corps for over 15 years, the friendship is great, we do concerts, parades, field shows, standstills etc. I think the people in charge have to find venues for them to participate in and show up. We have fun, we entertain, and most of us are senior citizens but we put it out there. There are several Corps available to play with, all positions, all kinds of levels of performing, find one and go for it. You will enjoy it.
  4. Any bids or just talk.............I would rather go to Allentown or someplace else but.............no winning bids!!!! Annapolis won, no drum corps there, I sat by some band people in prelims all they watched were the guards. Big cities don't need the bid good luck!!!
  5. There is a reason Rochester is hosting the DCA Championships again...............they won the bid, DCA makes tons of money in Rochester, and it is Drum Corps friendly, went to Allentown, Scranton, Philly, all great but can't hold a DCA event for many reasons. Suck it up, there are great restaurants, great venue for I and E, tons of hotels, probably will win again too!!! The stadium thing is just the people whining for upgrades and the city doesn't want to spend the money.......on soccer.....Rochester is notoriously cheap for its second class pro teams, took forever to get a baseball stadium, it will take a while to repair the soccer field.
  6. I hope there is a great crowd for this show. It's Drum Corps time in PA come on out and see the show!!!
  7. password change

  8. DCA has a lot of politics in it, something no one can change. If the judges picked the Bucs that's it, but everyone has their favorites and corps they think are better than others at any given time. Everyone will never agree on a winner but we can all enjoy all the effort each corps and their people put into the performances. I enjoyed all the corps in prelims, some more than others, some of the scores were where I thought they would be, some weren't. Next year it will happen all over again, let's hope we can all enjoy it and stand up for our favorites and put down the challengers, play on..............
  9. I guess only one person can have a point of view on this forum.....................................
  10. Nice to know someone appreciates Jimmy!!!
  11. The city let DCA sort of run the parade and they ran it to ground. Very few corps, did not allow some to participate, the parade on Monday would have been much better. DCA should leave the city to run the parade and try to work on their expensive screwed up fan network, I have not seen a good word about it... Prelims were very good though.
  12. DCA site says 30th that's Sat, however they never mention the parade, time of parade etc on Friday great site
  13. I must have opened the wrong thing, I swear this was the DCA Alumni section not DCI, I will have to check better!!!!!!
  14. Tried to go to your website, google says it doesn't exist..............whats up?
  15. This will be the show to see in Western New York this spring, lots of good music. Attend and support the activity that keeps a lot of people busy most of the year entertaining.!
  16. This is going to be the best show in Western New York this spring, if you don't go you will be missing some great drum corps!!!
  17. The DCI show in Buffalo seems to draw a good crowd and some top DCI corps, and there are no DCI corps there. As far as Roc Dansville is just down the road. I think that the show goes out to bid every two years, have some of these great venues put in a bid, it's still all about the money. I think the same amount of people attend finals wherever they are, it's all about what it costs the DCA people to put it on and how much profit they make. The used to cover the workers at I & E with tickets to prelims, that ended due to money, I don't see them moving any farther south than MD unless there is a big profit in it.
  18. Obviously you're not from western NY, Cooperstown, Finger Lakes, Darien Lake, Canada, great zoo, unless your staying 2 weeks there is lots to do and see in this area, especially for families. This area is great in the summer, winter sucks however.............
  19. Never said Corps were from the venues just that they were great DCA venues.
  20. I have been to every venue that the DCA championships have been in and the only one I would not go back to is Annapolis, too expensive, not a drum corps town, hotter than hell, people had to stay an hour away and still pay over $100 a room, stadium is so big the crowd is lost in the shuffle. DCA doesn't attract 50,000 people and they need a stadium that holds what they need well. Philly, Scranton, Allentown, Boston, Rochester, Hershey, Buffalo, and many more places have great DCA venues. Let's leave Annapolis to DCI and band competitions. Everyone gets to bid on the two year contract, so let's see some good bids from somewhere else, but at least a DCA town!!!
  21. The man in the middle is a great drummer and instructor, his name is ..........................
