The music of the 60′s generation included R&B,motown, rock, instrumentals, surfing music, songs of protest, even hilarious and crazy songs. Come celebrate them all at this year’s MBLV annual Welcoming Night Party, again hosted by Johnny Rozz and sponsored by Hercules. While there is a tendency to think of the Sixties as a whole decade, in terms of music and fashion (or the lack thereof), it can, in fact, be viewed as two separate and quite distinct parts, with the early years pretty much just modifications of Fifties styles and the later years exploding into the wild fashion frenzy for which the decade is possibly best remembered. Come dressed in your definition of the period and be eligible to win great prizes, or just come as you are. Meet us in Riveria Royale Pavillion with Emcee John Rozz and DJs Steve Sharp and DJ Flip on Monday night,February 6,2012. Doors Open 6:30 P.M. 3. Dear rudimental community, I am looking for a snareline of 6-10 men for a job on Saturday, December 3rd, 2011 for a five minute performance on Long Island, New York at a private event. I am looking for a premade snareline of corps style level performers only with training from either DCI, DCA or WGI. I am looking for a snareline that has a pre-existing performance with chorography. It is a plus if the snareline can juggle, and has members within the line that can execute advanced stick tricks. Here is an “example” of what would work to satisfy the client: 1. The snareline marches from the main entrance onto the main dance floor with the cadence, or other know piece of music and comes to a stop on the dancefloor. 2. The snareline may then move to staggered positions with some players on the dancefloor and some players on small stages. This won’t be known until the night of the performance. 3. The snareline then plays the cadence or other know piece of music in the new staged position with lots of lower body movement as what has been the trend in recent years in DCI. 4. Individuals then break out to do 20 second solos involving the execution of advanced stick tricks. 5. The snareline then exits the room playing the cadence or other known piece. I was contacted this evening by an event company and I must have a proposal into them by Monday. I understand the season is just starting. I am not looking for a perfectly polished performance as I know this is impossible to find this time of year with the corps just getting started for the 2012 season. Exact pay is not known yet, however this will be proper pay. I wouldn’t send skilled men out for crap change. In lieu that it may be impossible to find a premade snare line, considerations will be made for individuals looking to work. Please send some type of audition video link to partydrummer@johndonovan.biz Please state in the email where you are from, and if you represent any larger groups. Do NOT post any audition videos on my wall. There may be a rehearsal involved, location and time unknown. Rehearsal would be paid as well. This would be a contracted gig so you must be over 18.
  4. DCI and WGI Alum in Ohio - Must Read - $$$$$ Seeking a versatile Percussionist with quad-based moblile set-up. Must capable of playing core style and latin style with a DJ. Good looks and flashiness a total plus! DCI, WGI and/or DCA experience a plus. Must be 22 years old or older. Be prepared to audition. An example of what are we looking for can be found here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=me6L9u5f ... dded#at=20 the you tube link on the craigslist ad wont work on here. it goes to my private market demo on http://www.johndonovan.biz http://akroncanton.craigslist.org/tlg/2403160480.html This is a friend of mine I've worked with many many times in NY. Adam, is the single most talented MC I have ever worked with, and is great with sales. He has moved to Ohio to simply take over OHIO with the same style of events that make New York cutting edge in high end private event production. Adam has a new partner, and basically wants to find local "within an hour or so," talent to work with. I totally have faith that who ever is ambitious enough to contact him, and learn the ropes of the business with him, and can excell beyond the competition has a bright future and career in the Ohio area. It will take some time, but Adam makes things happen. he will be more then glad to talk to you about where his business operations are at right now.
  5. I think this is fantastic news and wish the best to C2! I just hope it doesn't hurt Surf or Bucs. The only concern I have is the age limit issue. I feel this organization should remain open to all ages, being in the tradition of DCA. Moving their age restriction a single year past the DCI age out rule, does nothing for potential members in their mid to late 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's 60's 70's 80's etc. In 2026, come heck or high water, I plan on taking myself off the market for the year and march my 50th year. If the Cadets have a DCA all age competitive corps at that time, this certainly would be an attractive possibility.

  7. hi. not a silly question at all.. im looking for a collection of sound files that can used in audio production and live dj mixing. I found a few as listed here, but I'm hoping to find something with more of a "modern cleaner corps style sound": http://www.audiosparx.com/sa/summary/play.cfm/sound_iid.328784 http://www.splurgo.com/German-Marching-Band-Loops-p-16219.html http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/dec07/articles/sampleshop_1207.htm A high profile musical director was asking for my help, and I'm doing my best to help this person out. I appreciate anyones help that might happen to know. Thank you.
  8. does anyone know of a library of marching band loops? I'm hoping someone here might know......
  9. Drumline Vs. Drumset is a 4 hour educational/performance production which started with pre-production in 2005 and for reasons beyond my control, will not make it to market. I decided in 2011 to release the footage "as is" on-line. While there are some minor video editing errors with the lectures, the performance chapters are top notch. I hope you enjoy these FREE videos, as they represent quite an investment. This is the same drum set of mine that was featured in Modern Drummer Magazine, March 2008 as "Kit of the Month," which went out to 125,000 subscribers. I believe that there are a lot of historical firsts in the percussion industry, presented in these videos. There are 14 video chapters I have uploaded which represent this body of work. All the chapters are here : http://johndonovan.biz/id61.html Thank you for telling all your percussion and music friends about this. Any and all help is appreciated to get the word out on this. Thank you. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=181821575194374 **endorsement disclaimer** This was shot prior to signing with Mapex, Paiste and Vater **endorsement disclaimer**

  14. the plan works both ways: for the success of the corps, and for all of the alum that push the pioneer brand on their bios, that have pushed to virtual heartbreak for a long time now. TOM 1995 was amazing as well!!!
