  1. The performers are young, well trained, hydrated, and well cared for. It is more likely people are passing out in the audience tonight.
  2. SCV was very good tonight. If that is the 5th place show in Indianapolis, and it might be, then we are in for one hell of a finals. Not a clunker in the bunch. You
  3. It’s unlikely BAC wins it all this year but their year is coming. They have definitely joined the elite tier.
  4. I would say the first three corps tonight have had their best runs of the year. BK were better than I expected after all the doom and gloom I have been taking here. Blue Stars have an incredible performance, easily their best of the season. And now Crown has brought the house down. I am loving this.
  5. I think the Blue Stars are on a trajectory to break 94 in Indianapolis. This is their best corps ever. A beautiful show well performed.
  6. Young corps with a new design team? There is a lot of work to do but they have a show that could be very crowd pleasing in Indianapolis. I hope they keep their heads down and work toward finals week. They might have a BAC 2016 moment. It will be close.
  7. I agree with getting them out of the sun this afternoon. They are all going to be pumped up tonight being this is the first show the top corps get together this season. The top four are going to do everything they can to make a statement tonight. SCV wants to get back in the medalist conversation so I expect they will be on fire. Blue Stars are looking to show they really are a top six caliber drum corps. I imagine their color guard would like to make a statement tonight. The Cavaliers are getting back on track and should be better after having last night's show under their belt. And the Blue Knights need to step up to stay in finals. I am looking forward to watching this one tonight. I expect great performances all around.
  8. The best story line going into San Antonio is the top four bunched together with the possibility of a complete reordering on Saturday. BD, BC, BAC, and Crown in any order all between 87.5 and 88.5 SCV in the 85.5 to 86 range Blue Stars 82.5 to 83 Cavaliers 81.5 to 82, closer to Blue Stars than last night Blue Knights 77 to 77.5
  9. Blue Stars have had more overall score growth than any other world class corps this summer moving up 17 points in 11 shows. At 1.5 points per show they should score slightly over 100 points at prelims. 😁
  10. I hope there is some 12th place suspense this year and would love to see 3-4 corps in the mix. The last time there was a true battle for 12th was in 2016 when BAC was 13th in QF and passed Madison for 12th in SF.
  11. Two weeks without feedback from judges, holes during rehearsals, and the inability to make necessary show adjustments have had a big impact on the Cavaliers. The Blue Stars were closing the gap on them before Covid hit, so it is not inconceivable they would be neck and neck with the Stars, but this result is a tough one for them. I am glad they are back and no doubt we see their scores climb fast, but that is a big gap to attempt to close in less than four weeks.
  12. We might be witnessing a record today for activity in a Blue Stars thread. The Blue Stars' design team know how to put a show on the field that can score well. We see it year after year, so no one should be surprised they are doing so well this summer. I believe some of the staff changes they made over the past few years are really paying off now. One consistent has been Michael Shapiro in his 15th year with the corps. I fully expect the Blue Stars to attain their highest score ever in Indianapolis. It seems like they have something special happening this year.
  13. One thing we have seen with the Blue Stars over the past few seasons is rarely does another corps catch them after they move ahead during the summer. Their designers know how to create a show that keeps growing right to finals.
