  1. Hi all- Cadets2 contracted into the Everett show back in April. In that contract, we had a parade requirement. Last week after the Clifton show, we had a discussion with George Hopkins about the schedule. After some back and forth, we offered him a release from his contract. He felt that they would be better served with more rehearsal time. Are we happy with that decision? No. Do we have an option to have his organization fined by DCA? Yes. Did we request the fine? No. We decided that we would not request that C2 be fined. They've already lost their largest paycheck of the season with this decision. Why make it worse?

  11. Long Island Sunrisers Announce Campaign – $60 for 60 Make your donation today on the Sunrisers website: www.lisunrisers.com In celebration of our 60th anniversary, the Long Island Sunrisers announce the launch of $60 for 60. $60 for 60 is the first of many steps the corps is taking to revitalize itself into to position for future growth. This is the first campaign of this type that the Sunrisers have undertaken in several years. “The Sunrisers have such a long and successful history; we want to ensure the continued growth and longevity of the this organization for many years to come, ” Assistant Director/Business Manager David Hobart states. The contributions may be structured in a way that donors can either pay in one lump sum or in installments. “We are asking for a donation of $60.00 for the season, however any amount is greatly appreciated,” Hobart continued. “People should not feel limited on how much they can donate”. Funds raised from $60 for 60 will benefit the Corps in a wide variety of ways, including transportation, member housing, instrument upkeep, uniforms, and tuition assistance. The Campaign will offset the cost of the Corps 2014 competitive season. The 2014 program includes works very close tied to the history of the corps, featuring music by Shostakovich, Stravinsky and Rimsky-Korsakov. The corps has an ambitious season planned and there is a great level of excitement within the current membership. Donations can be made directly via links on the home page of the Long Island Sunrisers website, www.lisunrisers.com. Checks can be mailed to: Long Island Sunrisers, 110 Bleecker St, #27 C, New York, New York 10012. Our next scheduled rehearsal is Saturday, January 4th at 9am (with check-in at 8:30). This rehearsal will be held at Brentwood HS. Two Sixth Avenue, Brentwood, NY. 18. Sunrisers Announce 2014 Musical Selections The Long Island Sunrisers are proud to announce that their 2014 program will feature Compositions from Classic Russian Composers. During their sixty year history, the Sunrisers have featured a number of compositions whose roots are found with noted Russian Composers. The Program will feature the following literature: • Procession of the Nobles - Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov • Comedian's Galop - Dimitri Kabalevsky • Fire of Eternal Glory - Dmitri Shostakovich • Infernal Dance from the Firebird Suite - Igor Stravinsky • Finale from the Firebird Suite - Igor Stravinsky The show is set up to start with a majestic opening statement and production which was a “Sunriser” Staple throughout the Corps history including the 1960’s, 1970’s and 1990’s. The Comedians Gallop also was performed by the Sunrisers in the 1990’s and is to be a light-hearted view of the Roman Czar era. The ballad – Fire of Eternal Glory – while not performed previously by the Corps has been played by other DCA and DCI corps. The Infernal Dance from Firebird Suite – is the section where the Czar is being challenged and the reign is being threatened and coming to a close. The last production - Finale from the Firebird Suite is to show the new heir to the Throne as well as symbolize the rebirth of the Sunrisers in its most current form. “It was very important to the sixtieth anniversary management that we stayed true to our Historical Roots!”.stated new the Executive Director and alumnus, Kevin Hassan. “With this program, the Sunrisers will be true to its roots while performing recognizable music to both the DCA Fan Base as well as our long and storied alumni.” The 2014 program was also selected to show the various stages of the history of the Sunrisers – which has run the gamut from the best of times – Championships to the worst of times – unable to field a competitive corps and everything in between! For additional information on the 2014 Sunrisers visit our website – www.lisunrisers.com or our official Facebook page – www.facebook.com/lisunrisers.
